In perhaps the most expected event of all time, 3D Realms — developer of the now-terminally delayed Duke Nukem Forever — appears to have been shut down. What this means for the long, long, looong-awaited Duke Nukem game is unclear — it’d be a great property to buy up and just finish, but who knows whether that will really happen. This news is unconfirmed but man, I’d really be surprised if it wasn’t true.
The forums are down but they’re not answering phonecalls, so we’ll just have to sit tight. I’m betting it’s true, so let’s take a moment to think about what could have been. Actually, we’ve been doing that for a decade now so let’s just move on.

All I can say is “good riddence”. You just can’t take 12 years to finish a game, no matter how good it might have been. I hope someone buys up the IP and puts it out there. It would be great to blow away some “damn aliens” and some pig cops.
