I love my Kindle 2 but am salivating to get the Kindle DX. I read a lot and want to get rid of all the pulp editions of my reading material. I only have so much room for bookshelves and have no need to shelf paperbacks. I also, like to carry my entire book library with me. I wish I could exchange my pulp version for e-versions. Now that would be a great idea but I'm sure there's some kind of legal issue with that. Also glad I will be able to read the newspaper in it's native format. Hope the book pages are same a paper edition too.

So, I will probably sell my Kindle 2 and get the DX. I'm a sucker for technology and want to keep saving trees.

issue for those used to books is the flip back and forth ability. I think it will eventualyl be what we are used to but will take getting used to not seeing the entire "analog" book when you flip from say, middle of the book to a part in the front. My learning was geared to where I was in the textbook. This is a change but 3rd graders will see as "normal".

I can't believe they made a *bigger* Kindle!!

My main objection with the original Kindle (other than the issue of it being fugly) was that it was just too big. Then they go and make a bigger one!

I used to love reading books on my Palm, and the best thing about it was that it fitted in my pocket, so I could carry a library of books with me wherever I went.

I gave up in the end though, as the choice of books was so limited.

I was excited about the Kindle (and the Sony eBook thing), until I saw how big they both were. If I need a bag to carry them - may as well put a book in it instead!

Or, you can buy a device designed for reading.

How many motorcycles can you buy for a car?

Different devices for completely different scenarios.

Peter,

Do you realise that most books for sale at Amazon are not very Southpaw-friendly?
I have been turning those pages with my right hand for all my life... Poor me!

Well at least you thought about us.... ;-)

Love the Kindles. People whine about the price, but it's silly. In 1979 I bought an HP-41C calculator to take to college for $350. That's over $1000 at today's prices and I would much rather have had the Kindle. I'm not surprised universities are lining up.

I wish the price was a little more attractive. I recognize that there is a premium for design, convienence and the always on wireless connection but, that said, if K2 was $299 and Kdx was $399 it would make more sense to me.

I would love to get a K2 for my wife who reads ALOT but at $359 I'll continue to wait.
