Here we go again. The rumors of a PlayStation 3 price cut are making the rounds today thanks to THQ CEO Brian Farrell. During his company’s earnings call yesterday he stated that a price cut would come this year, but not at E3 as we’ve all expected.
The challenging platform obviously is the PS3. The right people to ask about price cuts there are Sony. We are not expecting a price cut at E3 but we do expect one later in the year but again, that’s just our guess — that’s not based on any knowledge from Sony.
Of course, he’s just saying that in the hopes that it will help THQ’s bottom line.

If it cuts to $199 or so, then i’d be interested in jumping in it. $300-400 is too much for this thing, with its limited game selection.
Please tell me about this limited game selection all these 360 lovers talk about. Aside from GoW and Halo what else does PS3 lack? If anything 360 lacks the great games PS3 is getting. God of War 3, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and MAG (256 person multiplayer)
Ah ha, Screen Sleuth just got pwned.
Wow, it had been a while since CG’s last post on a *possible* PS3 price cut. I understand you’re not the ones saying it – just “reporting” it – but it keeps getting said and it keeps not happening. Meanwhile people keep holding out on buying one because of the next imminent price cut. How many times does it take being wrong to stop speculating about this without real evidence?
Wii beat PS3 last year. But Sony still the king in the field of home video game. Lower their price a better way to catch some market back. Here are useful PS3 tool for you. ‘4Media DVD to PS3 Converter’ provides fast access to real HD (support 1080p, 720p and 480p high-definition) and easy-handled ripping and converting from DVD to PS3 video formats as MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MP4 and PSP Video formats.

they are going to have to lower the price of the ps3 to compete with the xbox in this economic climate! I think the ps3 is reasonably priced at the moment when you consider you are getting a blu-ray player thrown in, but in these cash strapped times, are you going to buy an xbox 360 for around £150 or splash out £300 on a ps3?
