Finally, a glimpse of the upcoming Android based Alpha-680. As one of the first Android-based machines to hit the market, it’s generating quite a bit of buzz. I certainly hope it lives up to the hype that’s coming out about it.
First the good news: We know it’s sporting an ARM11 CPU at 533MHz, a 7″ LCD, 128MB of RAM, and a 1GB SSD hard drive. It’s expected to be released in Q3 of this year, at $250.
The bad news is, there’s some word of incompatibility with some Android applications. Hopefully this can all be worked out before the actual release.

Finally, it has arrived… I wonder how much that would cost in the market?
Do you believe android laptops are really going to take off?

I just canĀ“t understan the deal about android on netbooks. It would seem like a totally stupid way of restricting the way you work. With Linux distros like Ubuntu Netbook Remix already out… what’s the point?
Don’t get me wrong, I think android is a terrific OS and will revolutionize the mobile phone indistry… but it’s only that, a mobile phone OS. I could see it implemented in other sorts of devices, sure, but not on quasi-laptops with full keyboards and touchpads and huge (compatively) screens. I will go as far as to say that the (imminent) failure of these machines will bring android a bad rep.
