I knew that Android was powerful but is it powerful enough to display pictures in random order on a screen? Yes! A new photo frame concept from Fujitsu uses the OS to display pictures. Amazing, right?

The photo frame can also show images over DLNA, the digital standard sharing photos. They call it “Inspirium HomeNetwork Library for AV.” Clearly the Fujitsu R&D department was cut.

What’s next? Android on a rice cooker?

  • Definitely NOT overkill. As an at-a-glance widget display that runs most/all Android apps, a decent web browser, etc., I think it could be very useful. This is where digital frames need to go. A camera and mic with speaker or audio out would be nice. If you really want to go nuts, add HDMI for output and a DisplayLink chip for input.

  • Oh yeah, AM/FM tuner. Yes, radio is a wasteland but the components are super-cheap so why not?
