Now I have been modding for sometime now and I have really gotten into it. No I don't run Live Hacks and cheat in Live games. The only thing that you really have to do to make sure you're protected while modding is disconnect from XBL. If you're not online...they can't tell what you're doing. I have found that modding actually makes the game more enjoyable though it is dishonest...

Meh, I don't see how they'll find all these people though. First of all, your Xbox doesn't need to be modded to have a hacked gamerscore, or game...anyone can do it for you and then all you have to do is retrieve your profile on an unmodded Xbox, so the method of banning modded Xbox's would prove unsuccessful. Secondly, there will NEVER be a way to separate things like rapid fire controllers, because there's really no way to tell unless you watch the person in a game and see if they're shooting really fast. Even then they can just have fast fingers. And I feel a lot of modders would still want to play against people that don't mod. For most of them that's half the point...playing against people that don't mod so you can easily beat them and get points and what not. And I'd really doubt they'd set up any kind of separate community for them. Oh, and it doesn't just reset your gamerscore Renzai, it makes it impossible for you to ever get gamerscore for any game that gets reset. So even if you legitimately try to get your gamerscore back up, you'll have to buy some new games that you didn't have gamerscore for before. Although, I'm sure a lot of these people will just start a new account. Unless they have like a year left of live or something.

Putting a permanent marker on your gamer tag? Well, at least they're doing something about it and resetting your gamerscore. Cheaters should be glad, they could do much worse, like completely banning your console.

M$ will never condone modding of their xboxes as this opens the door to piracy of their games and lowers revenue. xboxes do not make money for M$ but the games and accessories do. I would personally be happy to seperate modded xboxes from non-modded (and also modded controllers like rapid fire etc) as this is making online play less enjoyable for the non-modded. Just ban all mods from using Live as all these modders can create their own online network like they did with the original xbox on Xlink Kai and other software through their PCs.

Thank god they're finally doing this it's about time. I work hard for my gamer score and level 100's on gears of war piss me off. They absolutely should have a warning label tattoo'd on their fore head. Good for xbox for fucking finally doing something. They should of did something when people were glitching seriously 1.0.

I say good for them. Cheaters ruin the game experience for the rest of us. To be clear, it isn't detecting the XBL data that is the problem. MS can already detect XBL data that is out of the norm for a game. The problem arises from creating a system to sort thru the massive amount of XBL data created by their user base.

That said, I think MS is missing a golden opportunity. They should create a specific forum/connection for modded consoles/gamers. They could then connect and play only each other. This levels not only levels the playing field to degree, it also allows the modders to pit their technical skills against one another. Not to mention, it would serve to keep the modding community as a financial contributors to MS's bottom line. Most gamers I know who mod their consoles would happily pay a higher fee to be allowed to play online with other modders. Just my .02.

I thought a modded xbox wasnt allowed on Live. The only cheater I seen were the guys that find gliches in games and take advantage. Dont seem fun to me but some players spend hours doing it.

Wrong ... its not a console ban, as what modding would be.

Its a reset of gamerscore for hex editing/game saving

You have to mod you 360 and if the internal settings are obviously out of wack they can tell. Oddly certain plugs, if not plugged in properly, will send the 360 into a fit and some data does get sent when connected to live. so modders beware! dirty little punks.
