Looks like The Sims 3 has leaked, several days before its official release date. Big surprise, right? Like these things don’t happen all the time. It can be found where you usually find these things.
I’ve not downloaded it (just the .nzb for the .nfo), but the .nfo says, like all good .nfos should, “If you like this game, BUY IT!” The .nfo also mentions that you’ll need a firewall to prevent SecuROM from phoning home.

Wow, really? That is really sad that you can’t wait for it to come out. I want as bad as anyother sim, but still dont illegally download it and risk getting caught just because you can’t wait for a game.
Good work! I am excited for it too and my bf told me it was leaked and my first reaction was sad. I was like Really? Whats the point? I kind of like the anticipation… and the creators work so hard on it and it looks really well done. They deserve the revenue… common people…

If you can’t afford to buy something at the grocery store, does that make it ok to just take it? NO! It’s no different here. These designers worked hard to make a product to make money. I know it’s a tough market out there for jobs. I myself am unemployed, but I will either wait until it comes out and buy it (been SAVING what I can from my EI cheques) or else I don’t deserve it. I was raised to know the difference between right and wrong. It is wrong to just TAKE something that is not yours. It won’t be your unless you BUY it. That’s the way the world works. Well to my knowledge I heard that the DRM was on the leaked copy if the sims 3 but it’s no longer on the retail copy, we’ll just have to see on June 2nd. As for the leak getting out I understa d where y’all are saying g that midst people can’t afford it, but it’s still wrong to do that because like Rebecca said the creators worked years and years to create this game for their fans, then to fi d out that the game is leaked and they just lost money. What some people need to realize is when you do this you are not only hurting the creators but your also hurting the fans of the game, meaning if you and over 100,000 of people illegaly download something the creators lose money, so they won’t create anymore games or expansions because they either don’t have the or they just lost the passion to make them. Well that’s just my opinion, I’m not even gonna download this game because from what I heard there is alot of bugs and I rather wait until it come out…

It’s not sad it’s underhanded yet intelligent. Why pay for something you can get for free? Given the choice people are going to choose stealing from a faceless corporation where they can’t see the damage they do. Though I doubt much damage is done at all because, so far, piracy hasn’t jammed a fork in the game industry.
But see theres also the sense that Christmas has been delayed for 4 months. So if someone offers you a sneak peek then I bet after 4 months of waiting you’d want to see what the hell took so long and whether this immense wait was actually worth it.

Companies typically aren’t interested in prosecuting all the individual people that downloaded the content but rather in tracking down the person who leaked it and prosecuting them. Occasionally they’ll single out a downloader and make an example but it’s not worth the effort to track every single downloader from a cost benefit point of view. The people that spent time on the game aren’t really affected by the piracy because they’re continually contracted to make games so people don’t really suffer on an individual level from this piracy. At least not yet.

In my opinion of course it’s horrible that it got leaked and everything but there are a lot of people who are REALLY angry with EA and the sims 3 who are probably the ones who will download it. Firstly this game was meant to come out in February and the main reason that they delayed it was because of lack of interest (not enough ppl preordering etc …). That fact that it was delayed by 4 MONTHS really didn’t make people too happy either. Secondly, they haven’t even released a CAS demo like they said they would. Also i think some people, especially in the EU, are pretty annoyed that they get theirs so much later than people in the US.
Ofcourse none of these are legal reasons but you have to understand that EA, in some ways, has kind of brought this on itself.
Whatever happens i think its pretty safe to say EA is still gonna make millions from this game. In fact it doesn’t even seem as though they’re actually bothered by the leak … they haven’t given any comments about it …..
Much later in EU?? I pre-ordered it from their Norwegian (well, we’re not in the EU, but in Europe at least) web shop, and was told it could be downloaded on the 4th. So it’s only two extra days. Well, I can wait for two days.
The Sim 3 Leaked has a bit of crash issue and a lack of styles of everything, It’s kind of sad all of the side pack you bought for The Sim 2 are no were to be found in the Sim 3 really, It’s stuff fun with the new stuff they have add but kind of feel ripped off with the lack of anything in there, Even if its not the ‘Final Copy”
I downloaded it but only to try once it hits shelfs id gladly purchase the game. what i dont like is how its like xbox live where if you want that extra hair style you have to go to sims 3 store and pull out your real credit card.also the game itself is a very basic once you build your home and sent the sim to work thats it for 3 mins or so, you cant do vacation and yo cant buy a community lot. the models of the object are awesome. and with my gateway laptop with amd turion processor and 3200 ati mobile graphics and 3 gig ram it ran pretty good. however i was playig and had a blue sreen of death)not related) and when i went back my family was available. so it still has flaws but it is a good game now is it worth 50 dollars or 69 for collectors, not at all worth more like 29 to 39 range. id still buy it o release day just so when expansions do come out i can play theose.
i ment to say wasnt available. seriously consider the download more or less a demo. download it try it and if it plays good and feels good buy it. however i am not a supporter of pirating i am a supporter of downloading a game to test to see if it works on your system. test drive unlimited is biggest example it hit shelfs with tech specs and they were wrong, you needed higher power computer to play the game. thats why i say download and try it because if you buy it and it dont work YOU CAN NOT RETURN THE GAME.

I beleive the leak is no real big deal, the people who have downloaded are either idiots or impatient, maybe both, i seriously doubt however EA games is going to lose that much money because the people who did download the game are either going to buy the actual thing, knowing that their version is good even with the bugs and crashes, or they wouldn’t have been able to buy it anyway.

As if our correctional system can afford to lock people up for that (afterall marijuana is a plague on our society that must be vanquished, or maybe that was black people.) That and the fact that they would have a hard time prosecuting you, especially if you downloaded it directly on Megaupload or something. I think you have to be quite naive to think that you will download this then somehow end up in jail for it. Infinitly more likely that you get hit by a car on your way to the store to buy it.

Yeah i do agree, we are not going to change their mindset but it would be great if we did. They know they did wrong but who cares i mean if i didnt really care about sims and wasnt a fan I would have downloaded it without a care in the world and wouldnt have thought twice if i was going to get my ip address tracked and in jail because i’d doubt if it would happen.

well i kept to my promise i just spent the 49.99 to buy it. however i dont agree with spending 30 per expansion and stuff packs. so whoever wants to steal let them you cant change there minds and they do what they want.
