I’m still pining for a pair of custom personal monitors and I just might pull the trigger on Ultimate Ears latest offering, the UE 4 Pro Custom Monitors. The benefits of having custom made monitors are pretty obvious so I don’t need to expand on that. An optional ambient feature can be had for $50, but that’s more or less for professionals to use when switching between wedge monitors and personal monitors.
You’re also going to need to pay an audiologist to make impressions of your ears, so you’ll be paying more than $400 for a pair of 4 Pros, but you do get a custom case with your name on it.
There is a place near me that made my custom tips for my Shures for $50. Not bad at all.
