In case you forgot, Nintendo rebooted Punch-Out! for the Wii today and in honor of that we’re giving away some free tees. The fine folks at 80sTees.com have donated four classic Punch-Out! tees for us to give away. Up for grabs are an XL (1) and L (1) “Punch-Out” tee and another XL (1) and L (1) “Bald Bull” tee.
All you need to do is leave a comment telling us whether or not you prefer the classic NES version or the updated Wii version. That’s it. The contest ends tomorrow at 12 PM ET.

I way prefer the NES version!! How could you not want to have “Mike Tyson” flash and then knock you out so that you had to start all over again!!
I prefer the original NES. Go Punch Out
007-373-5963 Go kick Tyson’s butt!!!!
Wii version…I like the thrill of at any time possibly causing blunt trauma to my TV screen :)
CLASSIC
The NES version hands down! Simply because i’ll never forget throwing a spoiled brat tantrum and beating up my little brother when he walked in front of the screen while I was fighting Tyson causing me to lose the game! I still hate him for this!
Classic Version!
I gotta go classic NES as well, if the arcade version were in the mix that would be a little bit more of a tossup for me.
Having played neither, I’m going to say I prefer the Wii version, because I get to play it with a magic stick and not a control pad.
Another vote for the Classic NES, soooo many hours of my youth were spent(wasted) in front of TV playing that game. I even rocked it with the Power Glove!
I just love my wii and the boxing games are my favorite!
CLASSIC: 1 Wii: 0
NES, obviously.
The NES version by far! I could never beat Mike Tyson up until a couple of years ago. I found my old NES in my parents basement and plugged it in to see if it worked and it did. Well, not without blowing in the game and slamming it down a few times. I then looked up the old code to go right to him and it took a few hours but I did it.
D00ds you know the best version of punch out was the rocky version on SEGA that game was amazing for its time.
Well as far as punch out is concerned I havent played the WII version but I simply love the classic I still play it via emaulator on my winmo phone. GREAT GAME! NES version for the win as well as ZELDA still play that game like crazy. Does anyone know where you buy the 12 bombs or infinite bombs? I never figured that out in the original zelda.
The good old days were not that good. I prefer the newer Wii version. Although they should have kept Mike Tyson in the new one, complete with updated quotes. “I’m gonna stomp on his testicles.”
Classic! Man, I remember what it felt like to beat Iron Mike for the first time. The Wii’s never gonna top that.
Well, here’s how I see it… (One) the classic is just that – classic! The fact that it was limited to what the NES was able to produce is the only reason that it would be considered a “lesser than equal” product to the new version. (Two) if it wasn’t for the NES version…would there even be a Wii counterpart? Hmmm… To compare the two games is like comparing MLB – Steroid Era v. Pre-Roid Era (nothin’ like an asterisk in the record books). Gun to my head, knee jerk reaction – I would have to say the Classic NES version is better, it was original and obviously became an instant classic. The Wii version is a remake, it may be more “fun” to play these days…but that’s only because technology is better and more advanced today…
Classic. I have yet to try the updated version.
Classic for SURE! You just can’t mess with the original!!
Original!
Classic NES version
CLASSIC ALL THE WAY.
70s / 80s / 1990-1993 were the best decades – short years. After 1994 things just started to degrade fast in the entertainment / fashion world. Grunge vomited all over everything and confused the minds of creators into thinking that it was the only thing that could exist. Sorry, I just went off on a tangent over my hate for 90s and current grunge.
Nothing beats old school NES!!!
I actually LOVE the NES Version and Downloaded on the Wii as soon as I saw it was avaiable. Nothing like hearing the 8 Bit Punch Out music to get you going ^_^
Classic NES for sure!
Memories of pulling an allniter in front of the tv screen, hands cramped up and abusing the screen, not wanting to turn the thing off cos I would lose my progress…
Ahhh, the good old days before memory cards :)
I would love the NES version!
Classic! Good ol’ nostalgia, baby!
Gotta go with the Wii version.
As good as the Wii version could be, I’ll go with the original. It is still one of the best games ever, and maybe someday the new Punch-Out could come close to that, but I just don’t think it can surpass the legacy of the original.
The NES version handsdown is my favorite version. nothing beats a classic.
Classic. I couldn’t put in the same amount of upcoming Wii hours even if I wanted to.
The classic NES version definitely!
The old NES version was great but come on with the better graphics and more ability to actually have the game do what you want you have to give it up to the Wii version!
NES!!!
The classic version. I don’t have a Wii so I haven’t actually played the new version, but I’m still confident I would pick the NES version anyway.
Can’t beat what you grew up on… the old one of course!
Without the original the Wii version wouldn’t have been made so NES for me!
Classic. Thank You. Drive Thru!
I think the Wii version not only takes the amazing classic formula, but improves on it in every way. Definitely the Wii version (save for the crappy motion controls).
I haven’t tried the new version yet, but I doubt I’ll like it better then the original version. They’ll probably make me learn all the moves over again.
I love Wii games, but sometimes NES games are better just for the experience of playing on the NES console. I’d have to say that I prefer the NES, love the oldskool stuff!
As much as I love the NES version, I think the Wii version will be a lot more fun because it will be a lot more interactive.
Old skool nes! I bought that when i was 14! I got that game when i got bought the system.
Classic NES.
Two words: Soda Popinski.
The new one is pretty excellently close to the old one for a remake….plus better graphics….so wii version
I like the NES version better..it brings back very gooood memories from my childhood :)
I prefer the NES version better. Glass Jaw would be sweet. Body blow! Body Blow!
Old School can never be replaced, although it is un not having to blow on the ame contacts to get the game to work…
can’t spell… “fun” instead of “un” and “game” instead of “ame”.
As with almost everyone else here, I’m going to take the nostalgic route and opt for the classic NES game. The newer Wii version might have some pretty graphics, but it’s got shoddy controls and that was the whole point of the Wii conversion in the first place. If it fails there and I end up using NES-style controls anyway, then I’d much prefer the classic 8-bit style. The NES will never die. That tee will go great with my pink hoodie.
I am going with the CLASSIC
