Induction charging equals magic. OK, not really, but if you were to show such a thing to a caveman he’d probably keel over and die. Actually, he/she/it would probably freak out and club someone, which is the exact opposite of what Brendan Fraser did in Encino Man. Sorry, I’m delirious from malnourishment.
Anyway, I’ve had a week with Energizer’s Induction Charging System and so far it works as advertised, sort of. Charging time is, in fact, around four hours. However, I’ve also been using Nyko’s Wand over the last week as well but the Energizer battery pack doesn’t work with it. In fact, you can’t even charge the pack if it’s installed on the Nyko Wand.
Aside from that, the system is pretty straightforward. An amber light on the dock indicates that the battery packs are currently charging while a green light signals that it’s finished. The battery packs get pretty warm while charging, but once they’ve been topped off the heat begins to dissipate. I attempted to charge the battery pack by itself without the Nintendo Wii Remote and Nyko’s Wand, but failed to get a constant charge. Charging is sporadic and not worth the aggravation of having to adjust its positioning to get a solid amber light.
Battery life so far is quite good having logged roughly nine hours playing Namco’s Klonoa, Atari’s Ready 2 Rumble Revolution and Wii Sports.
Other than that there isn’t a whole lot more to report at this point. It works and I wouldn’t expect anything less from an Energizer product.

A friend of mine said that the charger draws twice as much power to charge the controllers as the normal chargers – is this true – if we keep this plugged in for a year – how GREEN is it :)
I have the Energizer Flat Panel charger PL-7581 but cannot seem to find any additional battery packs for a Wii remote that we just bought. Even the website on the box http://www.pdp.com doesn’t even have them on their site to buy. They have a battery pack but then it states that it isn’t compatible with my model number. If I would have known this from the get go I would never purchased this. There is no way I’m going to buy another system to get an extra battery pack. Sounds to me like another way to bleed the consumer.
