I was going to ask- if all you need is backup and storage what’s wrong with Time Machine- much smaller. Then I re-read the post and saw the price.

looks brilliant – just wat we need to store software, photos, videos and files at home. BAcks up as well and has a one click download and sort too!

How much power does it really consume? HP claims around 55-60W for one drive.

We picked up one of these last week from a Canadian supplier, and we’re using it as a backup solution for our five-computer small office. It’s phenomenal: Small (just marginally bigger than the four hard drives it can contain), quiet (virutally no fan noise), unobtrusive. And it works: We now have full, daily backups of all workstations, and even of our Small Business Server 2008 box.

I’ve had a DIY Windows Home Server in my house for the last six months, using an old discarded Dell machine. But the Acer unit is so nice, that I’m almost thinking about replacing the DIY system with one.

Wow… this looks really good and affordable. Kinda makes me want to dump my diy whs server, and get a new better looking one. I wonder how quiet is it?
