If we are to believe an iLounge tipster, this is what the next iPod nano will look like. The screen ratio will change from 1.33:1 to 1.5:1. the click wheel will be shifted down and shrunk a bit. And yes, it will have a camera. All this in a less scratchable plastic (eww, plastic) matte body. The same tipster states that this new nano will be released with the iPod touch which should be sometime between July and September.
The rendering seems at least plausible. There isn’t any large change between the current generation and this model. Cameras are cheap and small now so it doesn’t seem out of the question to stuff one in the nano somewhere. The placement, however, seems wonky. The screen size is better suited for widescreen playback and well, the plastic body should at least scratch less despite probably feeling cheap.
Only time will tell if this is the real thing. Chances are we will see more “leaks” and renderings before it is released anyway.

I don’t know if they do change anything they will probably increase speed and capacity or make it some kind of touch screen
why a touch screen? its super small i can’t imaging my fingers getting anything right on a screen that small
Wouldn’t your hands block the camera lens? And if you hold it the other way, then you’re holding it at the screen.
And moving away from aluminum to matte plastic? Eew.
ugly waist of time they should just make an all new ipod its what they do if anything the will remake the 3rd generation into something way cooler cause that had a bigger screen.
The 3rd Generation nano had the same size screen as the 4g, just flipped. But really… PLASTIC?! No one’s gonna buy that crap
Don’t flip out, people. There is nothing in the original iLounge article about the 5th generation Nano being plastic. This crunchgear.com article misinterpreted the original story. The comment about plastic in that article dealt with a new iPhone.

the camera is a nice touch (but in a stupid place!), but a touch screen would have been nice, especially to justify the high price tag compared to other similar mp3 players, maybe they need to save something for next years update!
