Actually I have used Windows 7 on a test bed system, played with it a little. You miss my point Matt.

The Idea here is that the operating system is not yet complete, it still has issues and if a mission critical system goes down, your only recourse would be to uninstall Windows 7 before you even begin troubleshooting. Steps that take time and may even require a restore from backup taken before the Windows 7 upgrade. Steps that are time consuming and perhaps even impossible in some cases.

Loss of many hours of productivity could result.

Businesses are most cognizant of this, but individuals that rely on their computers also should be.

And how many corporations do you know that are willing to run their workstations or mission critical systems on BETA operating systems? Or software that isn't even fully released yet and will expire within a year if they don't purchase it?

Yes, Windows 7 runs fine for me (except suspend functions) but I would never use it on anything important just yet.

Hell, even important systems that run on a flavor of Linux are usually several months of updates behind from using the latest version because the older versions have been throughly tested.

I doubt I would ever take advice from a so-called "journalist" who cannot even spell "dispite" correctly. Maybe you guys should hire a copy editor. I'm just saying...

Obviously, you haven't used Windows 7 yet, Dave.

I have used Win7 as my primary OS 12 hours a day for months with zero problems. I left OS X for it.

It might be time to leave your safety bubble and go against Microsoft's advice for newbies.

As a policy it is never wise to upgrade a system you rely on to a beta operating system.

This is just poor advice to an extreme from CrunchGear. Do us all a favor CG crew, read the beta disclosure on Microsofts site, it says in no uncertain terms, the system you rely on as your primary computer platform should never be upgraded with a beta OS... that is solid advice.

I'm not good with OS's but a should I really replace my current OS with a Release Client that is free for one year. Do they lock you out and require you to buy it after that one year like the 30 day trial crap they installed on XP? Plus drivers and what not are going to be scarce aren't they?

Looks like it also updates Server 2008 -

Either way, here's what you can expect from SP2:
