Who saw this coming? Konami—that is to see, Mr. Hideo Kojima himself—just announced Metal Gear Solid: Rising for the Xbox 360. That’s what all those little clues were about.
Do we know anything particularly useful, like a release date or plot? Nope. All Kojimi-san said was that it’s coming, it’s a whole new experience, and then the disembodied voice yelled something like “Raiden is back!”
Now we being months of speculation. How much did Microsoft throw at Konami to get the game? What does this mean for Sony and the PS3? What does this have to do with Project Natal? Etc.
I wonder if they will now re-release mgs 4 for the 360!!???

Mgs4 will never go to the 360 kojima himself said so. mgs Rising is mutliplatform, about raiden, and after the events of mgs4. kjima technically never said he wouldnt make a mgs for 360 but he did say it woudlnt be MGS4(def=PWNS)
and the game is a spin off and it wont be as big as mgs4 and im pretty sure the real mgs story line is going to stay on the ps3
Kojima during an interview after Metal Gear 4 came out was asked if he would ever make a game for X-Box. He said, “I get sort of tired of people asking me this all the time..I don’t make a game for a specific console in mind. So far there hasn’t been the technology to support Metal Gear, with the exception of PS3.” He went on to say if the technology exists, sure he would consider another platform…
It’s confusing now because after he said all this..he debuts the next Metal Gear on X-Box when there has been obviously no upgrade in thier system.

Raiden WAS a cyborg at the end of MGS4. If you look closely you can see the lines that were on his cybernetic parts (Probably covered up with cosmetics or fake skin a-la Terminator), and anyway it would probably be impossible to de-cyborg someone

Thats a physical impossibility. If you’d of done any research then you’d know that MGS4 was the first game to fill a dual layer blu-ray disc, even with all the compression. okay first of all id like to say MGS rising could in NO WAY be a prequel to MGS4
here are the facts to support this
1st- raidens eyes “raidens eyes are blue in both MGS2 and MGS4 there is no way his eyes could have changed from blue to brown back to blue within those time periods
2nd- he is still a “cyborg” at the end of the game he was never truly a cyborg in the first place until MGS4 after his arms and such got cut off and replaced with the artificial limbs near the end
3rd- bringing it to the 360 is only a possibilty now because kojima san and the company had to “cut down” the technological requirements for the game to work on the 360 as he stated before the ps3 is the only platform to support the (MGS4) engine which is probably why Rising will have a new game engine
4th- another thing to point out is that this is being developed by kojima’s young blood new development team which probably hints at the fact MGS rising will feature more things on the ps3 since MGS was originally based on that system and like on any other multiplatform release each systems version will have differences be it technological or in game items or even story which most likely wont change system wise
well thats all the points i could come up with so far and as a lover of both systems and the game series i cannot wait to see what kojima san has in store for either system id have to admit however i am more pleased with the Ps3 functionality wise and i hope the new game engine can make it more “playable” on the 360
Setting the record straight:
MGS4 will not go the way of the 360. Some proof besides specs,
1. Vamp is seen using a Sony Ericson mobile phone.
2. A PS3 and PSP can be clearly found on the Nomad.
3. Snake is seen using a SIXAXIS controller whenever the MkII/MkIII is used.
And no, u cannot simply just take those out & replace. They would have to go back & dissect, something they don’t & can’t do. They have projects to do!

Clues to it being a prequel
His armor is less sophisticated than his MGS4 armor, He was new to the HF Blade at the end of MGS2 and he had ZERO ninja ability, The “Rising” in the title is a big hint, Post MGS4, he vowed to take a majorly active part in his family, His past is mostly shrouded in secrecy between MGS2-4, He’s been seen on Crying Wolf’s suit & Crying Wolf was defeated DURING MGS4, Technically Raiden has already “Risen” during MGS4.
Then why does the colonel say “Raiden is back.” I’m not proving you wrong…my head is going everywhere too with all the assumptions…I think it’s after mgs4 and it is raiden and perhaps has something to do with gray fox…oh and his armor looks pretty sophisticated to me :]
That wasn’t Paul Eiding (Colonol Campbell) on the trailer. The guy who said that was indicating that Raiden would be playable again. If this was (isn’t though) Grey Fox, everyone is forgetting how fukked up his body really was. He had a blind Left Eye, quite a few lacerations & bits of flesh missing, He also had a few limbs gone to boot. If MGS’s future is going to be revealed, I doubt Kojima or his pupil/s would dissapoint us by keeping Snake out. NOT SOLID, SOLIDUS, LIQUID, or NAKED, but a new generation of the bloodline. Hell, the Snake in Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2 was a son of Solid Snake!
Another 2 reasons why MGS4 will remain PS3 exclusive: Otacon stops you in Shadow Moses to tell you to swap discs, which leads to him talking about PS3 & Blu-Ray. During install screens, sometimes it will say “This game is intended for use EXCLUSIVELY with the Playstation 3 System”. Don’t believe the facts? Look it up on YouTube, Wikipedia, Google it, or just go play MGS4
Oh really? I thought it was campbell, interesting. Yea he could have meant Raiden is back to play or raiden is back from mgs4 events, who knows. As far as gray fox, the eye patch thing over “Raiden’s new pic was his left eye…but then again the eyes dont match and all that. I’m sure anything is possible with repairing him (it won’t be the first time for him lol) but it looks way too much like raiden. I hope a new bloodline doesn’t come out…and i don’t think thats the case. We’re getting too far into it and it’s going to get repetitive with a new generation. I hope snake will make an appearance but I don’t know about him being playable :]
For the record, Solid Snake can’t have a son, or any children for that matter, Naomi said so in MGS4. So if it really says that Solid Snake has a son in MGS acid 1 and 2, then they aren’t really part of the story.
Metal Gear Rising IS a prequel to MGS4. It takes place between MGS2 and MGS4 and is about that mysterious time in Raiden’s life.

Blood color means nothing. Raiden HAS A GODDAMN FAMILY TO SUPPORT and he recieved a human-like cyborg body at the end of MGS4, did you NOT see that cutscene in the epilogue??? The only time he could have been an emo was when he split with Rose after MGS2!!! Raiden also can’t complete something Snake already did: Erase the Patriots. Rising in this case is most likely modifying Raiden, suggesting that this is his past. So using a logic that only a true Metal Gear observer can master, your theory has become just like a corpse – Soulless, shattered , and useless. It’s true, Big Boss mentioned “Evil returning to zero”, but if anything Raiden should be a supporting role in that MGS IF it were to be planned & released.
Looking forward too it.. Raiden was B-A for sure in MGS4 and I would be fun to play as him in that suit I’m sure!

i just hope it comes out on ps3 as well, i think good for all the xbox owners who missed out on the last one, the only reason im a bit disapointed is (correct me if im wrong) that it means the game will probably be quite small due to blu-rays providing a much larger disc space, other than that though, looking forward to it.

First off, this won’t be the first MGS game that isn’t a Sony exclusive, do your research.
Secondly, the only way MGS4 will be made for the 360 is with multiple discs or with severe compression crippling the overall quality of the game.
There’s a huge space difference between 9GB and 50GB.

If you don’t understand why we are all pissed off, then you never will. The Metal Gear series isn’t just a game, it……. is not just an amazing story, but it is one of a kind. It is anti-absoulutistic, meaning their wasn’t a black and white good vs. evil, the story was so in depth, so…. real that in the end it was really left up to you who was the good guys and the bad guys and even then their isn’t an answer because everyone in the story, even the Patriot’s AI system, were working toward a common goal, making a better world for tomorrow, the only reason for the conflict was the different ways everyone had of achieving the same goal. This is just the a very simple taste of what the Metal Gear story has to offer and this whole thing was something that grew and developed on THE BEST platform series that was ever concieved, and the fact that Konami is now selling out to an inferior system, is just sickening for real fans.
I don’t think MGS:Rising follows Raiden’s story after the conclusion of MGS 4. If you remember, Snake told Raiden to not live out the rest of his life fighting.
I think it would look tacky for Kojima to put out an event after Snake in which a new enemy spawns out of nowhere and its up to Raiden to save the day. I mean what could beat or live up to the Patriots? I would seem kinda of corny.
My money says that MGS:Rising chronicles the time between MGS 2 and MGS4. We will probaly learn how Raiden became the cyborg ninja and it makes more sense to present a new enemy that we haven’t seen in between this time period.

Double unfortunately, with the limited space of DVD9 we will see legendary games become shrinked and cropped in all forms and on all levels to fit. No more extras, no more lengthy missions. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the epitome of a perfectly, COMPLETE gaming experience worthy of $60. Apparently people rather wait 4+ years only to have 8 hour campaign games (i.e. Gears 2, Halo 3) that have to skimp on storyline to fit sufficient missions.
