Jeff Victor of STARFLEET, the International Star Trek Fan Association, recently showed me around the 12,500-foot Star Trek exhibit at Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute. We laughed, we cried, we played a little Dabo. Good times indeed.

I like the lady that was being Uhura – she helped me understand where I was in the universe.
Alright, somewhere to take my kids this weekend!
nerd alert!
Actually, this would be a “Geek Alert” – nerds has an unnatural interest in things that exist in true life, while geeks have an interest in what does not. And unless I missed something, Star Trek does not yet exist.
OMG Thank you! I like that explanation. I think I am more of a nerd than a geek, then. Which is significantly less cool.
No, no, nerd works. Nerds = obsessed, geeks = enthusiastic
Nice attention to detail there. I am sure the command console had a wood grain finish on it. Put some varnish on that plywood next time.
Who made that set? High school wood shop?
I was actually surprised by how the props (from the actual show) did NOT look 100% real. Guess they fooled us.
To clarify, I meant the props that Star Trek actually used, nothing created by The Franklin. I think the Franklin did an amazing job, actually, of tying in the concepts seen on the show and comparing them to real science.

Oh, and you have to show your Starfleet member ID at check-in.
Wow…serious nerdage. Is there a reason why the warp core was wrinkled? That some sort of plot complication?
Fandom is always hilarious. Is there a fan with a fan-made costume that is an Ensign? Everyone’s gotta be in charge.
Wow – that’s pretty neat.

Wow, Starfleet has really lowered their PT standards.
Ohhhhh …. I want to visit the Holodeck! How many times did the Holodeck almost destroy the Ship or the Universe? Why didn’t they just get rid of that thing?
I would be in TOTAL Geek/Nerd Heaven there! Please Beam Me Up to the Franklin Institute NOW!
All Trekkies & Trekkers,
Many who have viewed Star Trek THe Exhibition have contacted me to state that they have not forgotten that it wasy brother Matt Jefferies who designed the U.S.S. Enterprise, the Klingon Battle Cruiser, the first two phasers and many of TOS interior sets. They have also voiced their appreciation for Matt’s biography “Beyond the Clouds.” Iam autographing copies of the full-color book for all who Email their requests.

use discount code stboscovs when purchasing tickets via ticketmaster and save $3 (of course you’re going to pay it anyway in service charge..LOL)
I was disappointed at this exhibit. It cost over $100 for me to take my family. There wasn’t that much to see, and they won’t even let you take a picture! You have to pay $27 to get your picture taken. Unbelievable. I drove from Buffalo to Philadelphia to see the exhibit at the Franklin, and I can honestly say it was a waste of my time and money. And, to top it off, the admission price says you get access to the rest of the museum, but they wouldn’t even let us in to the Galileo exhibit. I’m a huge Trek fan, but don’t waste your money on this exhibit. There are some props, small ship models, an Enterprise-D bridge mockup (which, again, you can’t take your picture on!) and that’s about it. Nothing interactive. Grade: D-
