Yes, yes, yes. Check out this prototype from VIA. It’s a hybrid tablet PC netbook. The screen pops out of the main body and functions as an Android tablet and when docked back into the body — in this case, an HP Mini 1000-series netbook — it runs XP.
Per VIA (via VIA?):
Here’s a quick look at a prototype device that combines an ARM based tablet PC inside a HP Mini-note. The tablet PC runs Google’s lightweight Android OS while the main body of the Mini-note is using good old XP. This device is developed by Taiwan’s III.
Hot diggity, let’s make this one happen for real. I’d buy one. You?

Docking station with XP would be a great peripheral for the CrunchPad.
Hey waitaminnit! Isn’t this exactly like Always Innovating’s TouchBook? It is slated to ship very soon – early summer ‘09. It too has a detachable tablet/display.
Not exactly. The device from Always Innovating has only an ARM processor. The prototype device from VIA has an ARM processor in the tablet part and an Intel Atom processor in the main computer. So it’s really two machines in one, whereas the Always Innovating device is one machine that transforms into various configurations.

Hell yes I would buy one! As long as its under $500 anyways.
Maybe a crunchpad future add-on? I’d gladly pay $300 for the tablet and then another $200 for the base. Go for it! :)
Great now I have to deide beween this and the TouchBook. Any idea on when his will hit the stores?
