Programs have to be written to take advantage of additional space, and if RAM isn't the bottleneck for whichever app you're using, then it's not going to make any difference at all. I am using the RC on my laptop and its noticably faster. But then I checked that it installed the 64 bit version of the OS by default. If you double the address space, the performance is going to improve (of course this is true only as long as ur processor can support it and u have enough ram).
