Extremely excited about this. The box doesn't do the OS justice. We've been working with 7 for months and I'll tell you it's a keeper. It's what Vista should have been.

No, that isn't true. Programs have to be written to take advantage of additional space, and if RAM isn't the bottleneck for whichever app you're using, then it's not going to make any difference at all. As windows is designed for 32 bit, it isn't a 'native' 64 bit app.

I feel, just like bing IS a polished version on live with better integration for farecast and cashback etc... windows 7 is just going to be a better Vista. I am using the RC on my laptop and its noticably faster. But then I checked that it installed the 64 bit version of the OS by default. If you double the address space, the performance is going to improve (of course this is true only as long as ur processor can support it and u have enough ram).

Have you used Windows Vista? Do you use it on a daily basis? Or do you derive all of your thoughts based on how the media tells you to think?

@Maj

You might want to read the blog Engineering Windows 7, just to get a glimpse of what's changed under the hood before you make more stupid remarks.

The state of the human condition:

We make things worse so that when they're normal we're extra happy! Yay!

Microsoft intentionally made Vista frustrating and difficult to use so that when they released Windows 7 it would seem like a godsend when in fact, it's just a normal operating system.

Very slick and nice, but...does anyone much care what the box looks like? I'm more excited about them listening to feedback about how much Vista stunk, and fixing much of it.
