Usually updates are available around 9:45ish 10:00 that morning.
I don’t think it will be midnight unfortunately. I’m sure the last few updates have come through at 10 am. Fingers crossed though.

No to be a dork but there are 6 different USA times: Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska and Hawaii. Not to mention Atlantic time for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Having said that these things are usually Eastern or Pacific time. Which is it?

Release “should” be “around” 10am pacific time zone. Apple headquartes is in cali. There is no “set” time, it’s how apple works, keep us waiting AND watching. I will put my guess at 1020am pacific time zone here in the good ole’ U.S. of A.

I wish I had found this last night. I was literally sitting with iTunes open waiting until midnight rolled around… Imagine my disappointment when I hit that “Check for Update” button and it replied… “This version of the iPhone software (2.2.1) is the current version.” Of course all morning (just about every 5 minutes) I’ve been hitting that button. I feel like I’m on LOST or something. Now I’ll be patiently waiting for 10-10:30am to roll around…

Yep, its about 3 hours. Tho I don’t know why it wasn’t 12.01 this morning as to me that is 17th June!!!! Come on Apple, be more accurate in letting us know as we have waited a long time for this software which quite frankly addresses issues of basic missing features that other phones have had for many years.
If Anyone Noticed I dont know if Picture Messaging will exactly be available today. There is an Asterisk below the MMS2 thing in the menu that says support through AT&T available Summer 09… Anyone know for certain?
Probably not until later on in the summer. If it were available today, that would be awesome, but something tells me they are being covert about the release date because they don’t really know yet.

In their defense, Apple doesn’t control AT&T. If you have your iPhone with a provider that supports MMS then you should be fine today. It’s just AT&T that won’t support MMS until later this summer.
AT&T HAS HAD PICTURE MESSAGIN FOR YEARS NOW! MY DAD HAS AN OLD SCHOOL NOKIA THAT HAS BEEN ABLE TO SEND PICTURE MESSAGES SINCE LIKE 05.
Yes, you are right. They have supported MMS for other phones up until now, just not for the iPhone, but with that said, they will soon. It does kind of suck that it has been so long, but I’d rather they get it right and give it to us when it’s ready. Check out what Wired said about it.

Who cares about sending picture messaging and MMS. You want to get in touch with someone, call them up on the phone, dont text them.

MMS dsnt look like it will be available till summer but meanwhile theres a free MMS app that I use, U just enter the pic msg verififcation code and it shows up, if that helps any1.

i have the ipod touch and ive too been waiting pretty much all day for this update
and not only tht but i clled apple to try to figure out when this freggin update will be released and ive been on hold for 51 minutes!

If you live in US, MMS and tethering feature at AT&T isn’t available just yet. It says so on Apple website.
