JVC presented a prototype of a super-thin and super-light 32-inch LCD TV back in January (during the CES) and today announced [JP] that sales of the device will begin this August (in Japan, at least). The company claims the model is the world’s thinnest LCD display of that size.
The full HD TV measures just 6.4mm at its thinnest point, and with a weight of just 5.7kg, JVC also gets the bragging rights for the planet’s lightest LCD screen. It features 400cd/m2 brightness and a contrast ratio of 4,000:1.

As LG is said to work on LCD displays as thin as 5.9mm, JVC is particularly quick to bring their LCD to market.
Japanese users should be ready to spend $2,500 for the device, with JVC hoping to sell 10,000 units yearly (mainly to stores and public facilities). A price or release date for overseas markets hasn’t been announced yet.

I’m going to need to stop at the ATM machine to afford this LCD display.
great thing)
I’d rather buy a huge ass Samsung for $2500. Its not like they are inconveniently thick. I just don’t get this whole super ultra mega thin trend. Its cool and desirable and all, but its not pay twice the price or more cool.
32-inch is pretty meh too. Anything less than 42″ these days just seems small.
I’ll take a 55″ Samsung TOC for just a little over $2500. Its superior in every way, except that its not ultra-thin, its just, you know, regular thin.
