Green Day is coming to Rock Band. Finally. I mean, it makes sense right? The band has a ton of fans and they fit under the umbrella of “rock” so it’s a pretty natural move.
What’s not all that clear is whether we’ll be seeing a full Rock Band: Green Day game or a track pack. I’d personally vote for downloadable tracks because we’d all get our hands on them sooner but if I had to guess, I’d say they’re working on a full game. They have more than enough tracks to fill an entire game and you’d think that downloadable tracks would have been made available already if they weren’t working on a full game.
Luckily, Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong cleared it all up for everyone on KROQ this morning when he said:
“Uh yeah, we’re doing a whole Green Day Rock Band… uh.” And when asked when we’d see the game, he said. “I’m not sure… soon. Like I think not this week, but this year soon… by the end of this year.”
So “a whole Green Day Rock Band” would make it seem like an entire game and the fact that the band hasn’t gone in to do all the motion capture stuff means that it probably won’t be out for a while. All of this information is still in limbo so take everything with a grain of salt. We’ll hopefully hear more soon.

The idea of Metallica and Green Day having their own Rock Band isn’t that appealing too me. But the Beatles having their own is pretty awesome.

I’m surprised nobody has done a Nirvana Rock Band yet. They’re grunge too, but a better band. How about just a “grunge” Rock Band? Get some Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Bush, Pearl Jam, STP, and such on there. Would make a hell of a soundtrack, anyways. Green Day could open for ‘em…maybe. On a smaller stage.

Dude how is guitar hero better than rock band. guitar hero just puts a bunch of random notes making the songs harder and they have a new one out every month. Harmonix takes there time to release a good game like Rock Band. and Green Day is the best band in the world

No, Sum 41 hasn’t been relevant for years, and neither is chrictine for thinking they are the best band in the world. Though I’ll admit, neither is Green Day (even though I do love their music).

GH is proven to be harder then rockband, but both are good in their own respect. i think it took either RB or GH long enough to put them into a game! and if you dont like greenday i agree they have changed, um like thats usally what happens when you GROW UP! but if you never liked them then obviously you ve been under a rock, or maybe tonedef! if your tonedef i can totally understand y you would like these games over playing the real thing.! thats much easier!
yeah im a huge Green Day fan. i cant wait for this game to come out. i have the beatles rock band. the beatles and green day are my fav bands. and its “Billie Joe” not “Billiy Joe” and green day is rock. theyre alternative, punkrock, rock… etc. and green day is pretty popular, so its about damn time theyre making a green day rock band.

No disrespect, Green Day is a good band and all, but a whole game?? I think harmonix reacted to fast to the sales of Beatles: RB and now want to make a game of EVERY band they think will sell. They’re gonna end up like Guitar Hero with a million games that less and less people will buy. I was looking forward to RB3 anyway :/
