If there’s one thing I’ve always wanted as a “professional” blogger, it’s a tiny $160 USB powered microwave for cooking beans next to my computer. Since no company’s had the balls to — helllloooo, Heinz. What have we here?
Please witness the Beanzawave, currently in prototype form from Heinz. It’d cost roughly $160 or so to manufacture but that price would come down as component costs fell. It’s in development in the UK and Heinz says that it’ll consider selling the thing if consumers want it badly enough.
Wow, howsabout that? A company checking with consumers first before releasing a potentially dumb (or awesome?) product. How uncharacteristically responsible.

HERE COMES THE FUNCOOKER!
(Anyone else watch 30 rock?)
With the dearth of Cigarette Lighter plug – to – USB coverters out there, this means you can now (potentally) microwave something small in your car.
This would be a boon for truck drivers, salesmen, and anyone with a long commute or going on a road trip. I wonder if it works on it’s side ???
I’d buy that
Awesome! With a maximum draw of 1.8 amps from usb 2.0 my spoonful of beans should only take half an hour or so. That beats the hell out of standing up, walking 5 feet to the real microwave, waiting 30 seconds for a cup of beans to heat, then walking the 5 feet back to my chair.
Not everyone has a microwave 5 feet away. For example, I have to go to the break room which is like 50 feet away. Being far too lazy to stand up, rolling there on my office chair is not only a painstaking (and possibly embarrassing) process, but it takes quite some time.
In reality, I don’t think this would be anything more than a novelty, but it’s pretty cool nonetheless!
I don’t know, I think the products would nuke pretty quickly. After all, that package looks like what, 0.25 ounces? Imagine heating and eating dinner a spoonful at a time… using you’re laptop battery… sigh.
