It seems Tokyo-based crap gadget maker Thanko finally managed to come up with a device that’s not (too) crappy. The device in questions is a HDV (not HD, mind you) video camera [JP] measuring 99×53×23mm and weighing just 95g.

The HDCam POMOHDV1 features HDV resolution, which means it records images in 1,440×1080 (as opposed to 1,920×1,080 for full HD, for example). It comes with 32MB of internal memory (SDHC cards up to 32GB are supported), an HDMI interface, a 2-inch LCD screen and 4xdigital zoom.

Akihabara News already had the chance to test the camera and calls the quality “quite acceptable”. Their shop Geek Stuff 4 U now offers the device for pre-order, giving people living outside Japan the chance to get one in mid-June for $171.36 plus shipping.
