Im back i left a comment on 11/7 and said i was getting a replacement phone but verizon only let me get the same phone. And now im goiing 2 tell u about what just happened touch dail iz stupied. 3,6,9,0,#,and * wont work even when i called verizon the first time they even saaid that the touch and motrola’s LCD screen were crap wait and the right touch buton with out siding it doesnt work too. so I’m going 2 call verizon and have them send me the EnV3

Do NOT buy the Rival – it’ll be more trouble than it’s worth. Everyone I’ve known that has gotten this phone (including myself) has the screen go white after about 2-4 months. It has never been dropped, never gotten wet, nothing has happened to it and suddenly, the screen will start to blank out to white. Every so often, the screen will come back just long enough to maybe read a text or make a call, but then, right back to white. If it weren’t for this problem, I’d love the phone, but this just makes the phone useless.

This is not a good phone at all i have gone through 2 of them within a couple months. The 1st one changes wallpapers and the wall papers started to change colors and the 2nd one that i have had in a week I went to pull it out of my pocket and the screen was white with cracks on it. i did not even drop the phone.

I have had this phone for about two months… It freezes, turns off occasionally, and responds slowly. (as it, it takes it a few seconds to realize I opened it, or pushed a button…. which is lame considering no other phone I have had did that)
The touch screen does not work for passwords, and the alarm will not always go off.

It’s cute from a distance. ;)

This phone is absolutely terrible! I have already gone through 3 of them and the first one i got was 3 month’s ago. One of them the screen turned white, and with the other two, they kept shutting off. PLEASE do not buy this product.

I’ve gone through 2 motorola rivals in the last 2 months. The first one the screen completely went white out. And yesterday… a complete black out. I took this second one to the store yesterday and they are retail only and can’t help me. I’m at work in oregon and there is not one near by. I can wait to have one mailed to me but then i go completely without a phone and lose everything. Verizon has shitty customer service and very disappointed. And the rival is a piece.

Our local mobile companies would lock out dual freq phones and offer a replacement single channel CDMA phone. For a small fee and a new 2 year contract under the new phone.
I was using an older Motorola model at that time. In the hay day phones began as analog devices, these limited the number of access devices to the system.
Then I recall the older 40 pound phones when they initially released… not a phone to steal lightly :) .

While this phone is blasey in its essentials, you can go to microsoft.com and retrieve some phone effects. You may also create your own using your personal PC.

As far as the flimsy plastic back cover or the metallic front parts go the screen is far from safe. I kept this phone in my pocket screen turned in for protection, the touch pad constantly opened and closed menus. It eventually broke and now requires me to replace the phone. Our son’s phone has a connection issue as if the screen contacts had broken, if he contorts the screen just right he can read his messages. Maybe a Droid would work better ??

i have had my motorola rival for about a month and a half, and it will not let me send messages because it says the memory is full. I deleted all of my inbox and outbox messages and drafts. It still said my memory was full, but when i checked the memory usage on my phone, it showed there was 140MB of available memory still left. I’m not very impressed.

Have had this phone for two months, and have had no problems with it. It was just what I was looking for – something small, and it’s cute too! I didn’t read any of the reviews before I bought it, and I’m glad I didn’t because so many of them aren’t good. I didn’t want a touch screen because I have heard of too many problems with them, but don’t mind the few touch screen features with this phone. I had to learn to navigate the different features, but knew I’d have to do that with whatever phone I chose.

I give it 5 stars – if I have any problems, I’ll be back, but it’s been over 2 months and I’m happy!

Have you tried removing the battery for 10 minutes,reinstalling the battery,and rebooting the phone?If that doesn’t help,give Verizon a call.

ive had a rival for almost six months now, and had no problems except for the occasional vibrating that dont stop.
but now when i go to my pictures, it shows this green picture of a paper in half or something and its just like my last six pictures i took. and i cant erase it or anything.
i dont know whats happening?
has anyone else had this problem,
and how did you fix it?

No you don’t want this phone I have been through 2 of them in 45 days! The first one would shut off without notice and the second one the screen turned white! This is my 3rd one these are a pos!

I upgraded my old phone (LG basic flip phone) to the Rival before heading to college. I should have kept the old phone… The rival wouldn’t work on my campus, even after re-programming several times and going to the local Verizon retailer to have the phone reset. I couldn’t recieve txts/phone calls for hours at a time and then I would recieve 50+ messages all at once. It was very frustrating. I also couldn’t make any phone calls, which is the main reason for having a cell phone in case of emergency.
It is a very sleek phone and I really loved the touch screen feature just for convience’s sake. However, it had glitches and would only work part of the time and was very temperamental. I liked the slide-out QWERTY keyboard and it was great for my massive amount of txting.
The major downside to this whole story is that i had to replace this phone FIVE times in the FIRST MONTH. It was not worth it. The clip holding the top screen to the bottom keyboard broke on 3 of the phones. The first phone would not work and constantly froze and the screen stopped working. The final phone just died. It was AWFUL.
I replaced it with the Alias 2. Verizon’s customer service representatives were extremely helpful and understanding with the whole situation. I HIGHLY reccomend the Alias 2. It is a very durable phone, I have had ZERO problems with the it functioning properly, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE all the features it offers.
