The Palm Pre Touchstone got raked over coals when it first launched after someone did a little math and discovered the massive mark-up that the $70 accessory carried. Well, Amazon is selling it for only $29 which is a lot better. There is a little trick to get it for this price though.
It’s easy. Just select Amazon.com under the More Buying Choices box to get it for $29.99. For some reason, Amazon has the default selling partner Electronica Direct who has it for $39.99. Hell, we would rather buy from directly from Amazon anyway.

Just a heads up, this is just for the Touchstone base charger, not for the kit that comes with the replacement back (the one with the magnets). You can tell because the MSRP is different. Still it’s $20 off the normal price, and $10 if you buy it from amazon.
Not bad for a secondary charger for work or office.
This also does not include the sync cable or wall charger, just the touchstone itself. Useful if you already have a compatible microusb charger.
The cable that comes with the Pre and connects the touchstone to the USB wall charger seems to have a proprietary connector, no? It’s definitely not a standard mini USB plug.
It’s a standard *micro*USB plug, it’s still a standard, but a new one at that.
I was wondering why did Palm have to make it slanted like that? Had they made it horizontal or like a stand, you wouldn’t need to have a special backplate for your phone and you could charge it just as easily?
It is slanted so that it lines up with the charging coil easier. The replacement back and TouchStone use magnets to align 4 points.
