The dev team has released their latest carrier unlock, ultrasn0w, It requires a quick using redsn0w and then the installation of ultrasn0w through Cydia. If you’ve already jailbroken your iPhone 3G simply add repo666.ultrasn0w.com to your repositories list and download ultrasn0w.
What does this do? It carrier unlocks the iPhone 3G. Sadly, it doesn’t yet work on the 3G S. It is also safe to update to the latest 3.0 version.

So if I’m upgrading from 2.2.1 to 3.0, ultrasn0w will not work because my phone is permanently locked?

Lame-scam advertorial for pay-to-unlock services when UltraSn0w works just fine and is free.
Dont you read Kcmyk? you can upgrade to 3.0 and still unlock just fine.
Push Notifications are not working and it’s a well-known issue with “hacktivated” phones.

If you plan to have Push Notifications working on your iPhone, you’d better activate it through iTunes and your provider.
I just unlocked this morning and push notification works just fine for me.
If you activated your phone through iTunes, then it should work. The problem is when people “hacktivate” it.
Uh, duh…that’s because push notifications are delivered through official carriers. If you are on TMobile (for example), then obviously it’s not going to freaking work.

My iPhone’s home button is busted. I tried opening up the phone and blasting it with air, but that didn’t help.
I saw that there’s an application that works on Jailbroken phones to get to the home page by swiping along the bottom.
Here’s my question: Will I be able to install redsn0w with no home button. I can get to a browser and type, but after that will I need the home button?

I haven’t tried it yet so I may be wrong, but since no one has answered you yet I thought I’d give you my experience with jailbreaking with quickpwn.
When you are jailbreaking there are a few steps that require you to hold the sleep button for about 20 seconds and one that requires you to hold the home button for about the same amount of time. redsn0w may be different but I won’t know until I try breaking my old iphones tonight for resale.

Yet another unlocking solution. The thing is, it can mess up your iPhone if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Yet another? What are the others besides the sim adapter that doesn’t really work? and sure there is the potential to harm your phone but…. What’s your point?

Ok, I have an iPhone 3G which I jailbroke after updating with firmware 2.2.1. problem is while I was using cydia on wireless to download yellowsn0w, the wireless conked out. Now I can’t access the yellowsn0w site through wireless or any other site. My question is, is there a way I can unlock it using yellowsn0w without wireless e.g. loading yellowsn0w using a USB cablefrom my PC/MAC?

I have bought a 2G iphone which has 3.0 firmware installed. i want to unlock and jailbreak to use on TMobile.
I have to use iTunes 8.2 just to get iTunes to recognise the phone, and I have to use an AT&T sim (borrowed). But I do not get the option to restore the phone. If I can restore I can then use software to unlock !!! But iTunes immediately wants me to activate the iPhone which includes changing the data plan for the current (borrowed from a friend) sim card.
Anyone have a solution for me. I never had this problem with my other iPhone which has 1.1.4 firmware !!!

I have successfully jailbroken my iPhone and installed 3.0 OS.
But now SIM card is not recognized. As I know ultrasn0w will solve this problem. But problem is that I can’t install it from internet, because doesn’t have WiFi connection. So after even adding repo666.ultrasn0w.com in the Cydia I still can’t get that app.
Can someone provde ipa version of ultrasn0w which I can install manually by usinng installous.
Or ask me how to get out from this stuck.
