Man, I&#039;ve been doing this since 1984. 

Two points:
1) His design is stupid.  There&#039;s no pipe as cross pieces (at least in the front) and the shelves will be subject to torquing and failing with any real weight.
2) Josh: two words: Plastic Bends.  You need at least 3/4in plexi to get anywhere near the same strength as 1/4in glass and any weight will cause the plexi to bend... a lot.  Plexi is pretty expensive too... price a 4x8 sheet of 3/4in plexi.</description>
