Kindle DX has a biger screen than Kindle 2 and also is easy to take to go. It is really a better read as you go device. I didn't use the Apple’s rumored multi-touch tablet , so that don't know how to compare them. But Amazon kindle DX is really a attractive product.

Apple is too spendy but a Kindle isn't? That's unpossible!

Let me tell you I was very skeptical of the Kindle when it first came out. But, I ended up purchasing a Kindle 2 and absolutely love it. Now, you asked the question if I would like an Apple tablet more? Probably not for the price - Apple has always been too spendy.

Will the Apple tablet look better and be more readable in bright light/sun like the Kindle? Will the Apple have a free 3G connection, or will I be stuck with yet another $30/month plan? Will Apple make reading a seamless experience? Probably 'no' to all of those questions.

Kudos to Amazon - they impressed me and I'm not easily impressed.

I actually love the Kindle 2. I haven't been able to go back to reading a regular book, especially the thicker more heavy ones. I'm thinking about a kindle DX, sometime in the future. Only thing holding me back is the possibility of apple releasing a netbook. If that happens then I'm selling my kindle 2 and buying the apple device.

"may be a bit too “inside” for the person whose involvement with tech begins and ends with looking at blurry photos of the latest Android"

I'm confused -- are you calling yourself a dumbass or your readers dumbasses?

A recent example of how simply publishing a book is not enough is Richard Posner's "A Failure of Capitalism". It was published in February, but on his blog the author has had a steady stream of updates as well as reflections on the book based on things that have happened since.

I am looking forward to finishing the book, then stepping through the blog entries for the book, just to see how it evolves.

I had the original and was contemplating getting the new bigger one. But looks like I will wait on that now.
