I’m not a svelte man anymore, I’ll admit. Two kids – I ate them both – and lots of beer have forced my metabolism to run, cowering, resulting in size changes that would swallow the average man. This product is what I need.
The BodyTrace is a wireless scale that sends your shame to the Internet, allowing you to follow your slow decline – or incline – into our out of lassitude. It will be available in November for $119 and it costs $19.99 for a three month weight loss subscription.
The system also includes a grouping feature so you an add your friends and family to your fight – or even create social groups of like-minded fat losers – and the service also makes suggestions for eating and working out. You can also upload progress pictures and cry when they never change, not once.

INTERNET CAPABLE BATHROOM SCALE OFFERS A NEW WAY FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Two young entrepreneurs are turning the weight loss industry upside down by revolutionizing
how people look at weight loss. It is especially important since over 30% of the U.S. population
is obese and according to some recent studies over 75% of U.S. adults will be overweight by
the year 2015.
New York, NY – June 23, 2009 – Today, BodyTrace Inc., introduced its BodyTrace eScale and
Website to the market.
“We hear promises about reaching weight loss goals every day, but most of these programs and
systems are lacking real facts and fgures. We are taking this to a whole new level where only
measurable results count. Only hearing that a new weight loss tool works is history. Seeing that
success on a chart, that is future. Our future.” – said Gyula Borbely, the president of BodyTrace.
The BodyTrace eScale is a bathroom scale that wirelessly uploads and displays the user’s weight
at the BodyTrace Website. Since it’s using wireless connection it does not require any software
confguration for use. The Website’s motivational interface encourages users to share progress,
exercise ideas, recipes and lets people create groups made up of friends, family, or co-workers to
work jointly towards a common goal. Users can even upload progress pictures to motivate
themselves and others!
The comprehensive weight monitoring system includes interactive weight and BMI charts, food
diary and intake calculator that gives guidelines on fat, protein, water, carbs and calories.
Few words from the Founder
“We are very excited about our new product and we hope that this excitement catches on. The
BodyTrace eScale and Website is a truly unique service that offers instant feedback on someone’s
success while keeping them responsible for the results. Nobody wants to step on our eScale and
see that the charts are getting higher, especially that you are doing this in front of your
supporters, so there is defnitely a peer pressure that helps everybody reach their goals.” –
added Gyula Borbely.
The BodyTrace eScale and the BodyTrace Website will be available in September 2009. The
BodyTrace eScale will retail for $119; signing up on the BodyTrace Website is $19.99 / 3 months.
Pre-order information is available today on www.bodytrace.com.

No monthly fee to get a Wii Fit and have an avatar chart your weight and BMI, and chastise you for not working out enough.
John, I liek your writign stile. :)
As I reading about this “share your fat status on the Internet” device I wonder – Why would someone even want to buy this or participate in what it does?!?
My girlfriend could use this. May be a good gift.
your girlfriend won’t be your girlfriend for long
Please be sure to do a citizen review of how that goes over. :)
Let me be the first to ask. “Can I Tweet this”
any other specific features?
I think that it would be great fun to tell the world how much I weigh every day. But would anyone care?
I can just imagine a tweet like: I weigh XXX lbs. today! I’ve gained 20 lbs. since starting the ABC weight-loss program!
Sometimes I read these things and just want to break down into tears of laughter.
In the name of all that is holy why did they pick this idea?
I like the way that they have crammed web 2.0 into the spec…maybe they’ll get funding.
I wonder what the follow up product will be? An iphone social network called iZit? An internet toilet sharing an analysis of your … well lets just leave it there….
I think this is a good, innovative product. One of my clients is a well known weight loss/dieting company and they would certainly have a use for this.
Most people I know of (especially women) wouldn’t even let me stay in the same room while weighing themselves (that’s why its “bathroom scale” and not “living room” – only for the sake of privacy).
How many people would actually be ready to share the fact that their 5′8″ body actually weighs 260 lbs with a body fat % hovering in the mid 40s?
Women are far more conscious of their weights and my wife will not even letme know the numbers :) … I guess all of it has to be anonymous
Good idea, BAD Revenue Model
wow, it’s very dangerous
I use the LoseIt app on the iPhone and its been very good (lsot 13 pounds over 3 months now). The fact that you carry it with you wherever you go makes it easy to keep track of what you are consuming. Oh . . . and its free.
Are there really 3 diet ads on this page, or is it just an odd coincidence?
I had thought of a similar idea of using a web-based audience to pressure you into sticking to your health-related goals. I really like how this marries the offline product to the online concept. The scale will help ensure honesty. I think having a “reveal” of sorts would help motivation too. Users could set a deadline for their goals, and once reached, they go live on a section of the site to show their new fit figures and talk about what was the key to their success. Good luck guys!
This gives me an idea. It’s a Facebook app that helps you cut down on internet usage…
yeah, right!
i need weight loss for my belly button damn..i hate it slowing down my running capability
very inspiring!
So you have finally embraced to your “John Squishy Biggs” moniker?
