The truth of the matter is that I’ve played maybe 30 seconds of StarCraft in my whole life, at a friend’s house when it first came out. Supposedly I’ll be part of the beta, so I’ll finally get to see what all the hubbub is about. As it stands, the only RTS I played for any amount of time was Age of Empires 2.

I remember playing it pretty much all day during Wrestlemania All Day Long in the year 2000. Oh, to be 14 again.

  • Age of Empires 2 and the expansion pack were the only real RTS’s that I got involved with. Playing them over dial-up never really killed my enthusiasm. It just made me want to have friends that are better at the game then I am on my team and to never play 1v1.

I also played Starcraft a bit. Simple yet complex at the same time and the user-created games kicked so much ass. Cat and mouse was so sweet! I can’t wait for Starcraft 2!

  • 30 seconds of SC and you get a beta key?? life is unfair

  • I loved all the AoE series Started with 2 went back to the originals, then nabbed 3. I’ll miss them.

I did enjoy SC even though online I sucked so bad it was miserable to play. Playing direct with 56k dial-ups with friends was pretty fun though.

The user created mini games were really fun too. If they include an editor on par with the originals then I can expect SC2 to blow minds. Even though I suck at RTS more now than before.

  • Maybe you could give your beta key away to a dedicated Starcraft player of well over 1,000 hours *wink wink*
