Wow! Social and technical engineering at its best err rather worst. This should serve as a lesson to many. Is this sort of theft recoverable… I mean will the sherrif’s dept get their money back from the bank?

…And the security of the OS that the sheriff’s department must have had been using.

Trusting such an OS with those tasks was clearly the mistake here (knowing that the user of said OS wasn’t knowledgeable enough anyways).

My bet is that it’s a Windows computer.

I find that last piece a little harsh.

The guys where imaginative, took time to find the right workflow to get the money back home, used technology, trojan, social engeenering…

I’d call that a good and well done hacker job :D
