On the surface, this sounds like an okay deal: buy a Compaq Mini 110c-1040 DX netbook for $1.00, and sign up for mobile broadband with Sprint on a two year contract. Just make sure you don’t go over the limit on your data plan. Where exactly can you get this screaming deal?
It’s a bundle deal from Best Buy. And it varies, depending on what carrier you actually prefer. You can choose Verizon or AT&T instead of Sprint, but expect the cost to go up to $199.99 if you go with one of them. You can also just buy the thing outright for $389.99, which is a better deal if you look at the total price of basic purchase vs. 24 months at $60 for a data plan.

What I am curious about is why every blogger makes the monthly bill point. This is not for the casual netbook user who is looking to get a device to play with.
This is for the user that needs a computer on the go and intends to get a netbook with 3g. I think the user this is aimed at is someone who would be a USB aircard customer but needs a reliable portable computer to use it with.
Now in comparison you can get the laptop subsidized down to a penny and get a spare USB modem as well for cheaper then the cost of the netbook outright.
Now I may be biased, I am myself did purchase the subsidized Acer Aspire One through Radioshack however I purchased it know what I was really doing. I was signing a 2 year agreement where one of the many things I would do with my simcard would be using it in my netbook.
Your paying $1440 for the service not the netbook.
I doubt that the data plan is not enough for most of customers, so that retailer actually want to get the money from the your overlimited data plan. Smart idea! I prefer to buy a mini netbook alone without any limitation, so that I don’t worry about anything while going Internet. The deal is too good to give a try.
