picture-5AT&T is practically giving these away now. A refurbished 8GB iPhone 3G is now going for $49 with a 2-year service contract.

  • I don’t see how $50 off the entry cost of a 24 months contract is “giving them away”.

The cost is the contract, not the phone.

    • Exactly! Screw the price of the phone, I’d rather pay $300 for the phone and have a low monthly cost.

      • except that even if you try to use your iPhone on AT&T without signing the contract they will threaten you if you use an iPhone without getting the proper data plan.

So the price of the contract ends up being exactly the same…might as well get it for cheap. Plus most people that upgrade their phones these days acknowledge the fact that they are really stuck with the plan for 2 years and not the phone.

Also to be fair if you change your phone to a non AT&T device you can very easily switch to a cheaper plan with a cheaper data plan and AT&T will not get bent out of shape about it.

    • but you’re going to pay for the contract regardless of whether or not you get a phone.

All very true, but $50 is much more appealing than $300 regardless of the service plans.

  • Oh, yes please, yes please!

And while you’re at it AT&T, will you please visit my home and REAM ME IN THE ASS WITH A GAS-POWERED POST HOLE DIGGER like you do for all your OTHER customers?

Because, I mean, it’s MOTHER FCKING iPhone so it’s TOTALLY worth it! Especially if i ALSO get to have America’s second worst mobile service…

  • That’s really cheap for the iPhone 3g. No on is forcing anyone to go out and get these but for those that were borderline, now might end up getting them for that price. You would have had to pay for the service anyway, now you can get the iPhone for a little cheaper. http://ziggytek.com/

  • Yep…I almost paid $199, then $99 for this phone. Glad I didn’t! Pretty soon, I predict Free for the price on this.
