Are you a FiOS customer? Want free access to Wi-Fi hotspots across the country? Of course you do! Starting today Verizon is offering free hotpsot access to new FiOS customers with the 25/15 package Mbps package. Those, like me, who joined before the increase in speeds and have the 20/5 Mbps package are also privy to free Wi-Fi. HSI customers with 3Mbps or 7.1Mbps plans can also tap into Verizon’s network. Check here for available hotspots in your area.
That’s great and all, but I still haven’t been able to pay my FiOS bill. Can’t do it online or over the phone because Verizon’s customer service is only capable of transferring me to someone who can supposedly help me who then sends me to someone and so on. Verizon, I’m not paying my bill because you won’t let me. You haven’t even sent me a bill in the mail and I know I owe you money.
Update: if you qualify (or think you do), go to www.verizon.net and log in using your usual username and password. It’ll point you to the software you need.

I’m a FiOS customer, but don’t see how to sign up for the WiFi access or how to access the hotspots. What will I have to enter to gain access to the hotspots?
Peter — This is Bill Kula at Verizon media relations. Send me your contact info. to william.kula@verizon.com and I will get our executive customer relations team involved to help with your FiOS billing. We’ll make this an easy fix, and I am sorry for the challenge you’ve experienced; you deserve better and will get better from us. — Bill
Sent you multiple emails. No response. Typical Verizon customer service.
Bill, while you’re at it, can you answer my question?
Ron — Qualifying FiOS Internet and DSL-enabled High Speed Internet customers (existing customers with at least 20 Mbps on the FiOS front, and up to 3 Mbps on the HSI front. New customer need to order at least the 25/15 Mbps FiOS service; HSI remains the same for new customers) go to http://www.verizon.net and user their Verizon username and password to download software for the free Wi-Fi access at the hotspots. Detailed product info. is aviable at http://www.verizon.net/wifi. Today’s news release is at http://www.verizon.com/newscenter. — Bill Kula, Verizon media relations
This a good move from Verizon. With AT&T allowing wi-fi for its iphone customers, Verizon is trying to one up AT&T. I Like it http://ziggytek.com/
Competition resulting in better services for the customer and higher profits for the service provider – Naaaaah, can’t be. I thought they put a stop to this in the U.S.
Don’t bother if you’ve got a Mac. OS X is not supported. Vista or XP only, please.
Yup, nice one, Verizon–no Mac support.
Why not, Bill Kula of Verizon? When can we expect a Mac product?
Mac-supported, free Wi-Fi is coming from Verizon. Don’t have a specific date to provide you yet, but want Mac users to know we are addressing the demand.
Bill of FiOS fame… What advice can you give me for checking FiOS availability? I do not have a Verizon home phone number, but when I try to input my address into the address checker option, it keeps asking if I mean an address in a city 15 miles away. All attempts to check my real address lead to that other city.
(The implications are that FiOS is not available for me, but I have to ask…)
BTW – I don’t care which it is, but the first alternative to Time Warner’s Road-Runner that reaches my doorstep, FiOS or ATT U-verse, gets my business.
Tom — Can you send me please your residential address to my email address, william.kula@verizon.com, and I’ll have it checked out ASAP. Street address, city and state please. — Bill
Peter,
I had the same problem with Verizon FiOS and billing. I have a sheet of paper in front of me of 12 different phone numbers that I was forwarded to in a single 2-day process. And I did this several times! My billing was messed up for about 9 months. It finally got all resolved to a single bill in the last billing. I wouldn’t receive any bills for three months and then they would all arrive the same day in a stack! How I was told by customer service to pay my bill without a bill … goto https://www22.verizon.com/myverizon/ click the link in the right-hand bottom that says “pay bill without phone line” and then you can enter account # and your payment amount. It works apparently for both residential and business accounts. I just kept adding money there until it finally got all trued up in the last go-round. But you may want to also call Verizon so they can put a note on your record that you’re trying to pay.
Henry — Reaching you here atop my direct email to you. What city/state do you reside? I want to have this case investigated. — Bill
