Ho-ly crap. For $323 plus $20 shipping you can get a digital monkey wrench that tells you when whatever bolt you’re tightening is tight enough. All these years I’ve been relying on the old “it doesn’t turn any more, so it must be tight” rule.
It’ll even buzz to alert you to “excess torque” — just in case you’re manlier than most men (or manly women). Add to that an ergonomic handle, an LED light for visibility, and a diameter of between 10 and 36 millimeters and you’re all set.
Oh, and the wrench carries the following warning:
“Warning: the torque meter uses the distance from the leverage point to the bolt head to calculate torque, so moving your hand closer to the bolt head will throw off its reading. Grasp the full handle in the palm of your hand for the most accurate reading.”
So make sure you hold it just right or your $323 wrench will work just like a $3.23 wrench.

$323? I think I’ll just keep tightening things in increments of guess-pounds and newtonish-meters.
That’s not a monkey wrench. It’s an adjustable sliding jaw wrench AKA ‘crescent’ wrench.
Actually, Crescent is a brand name and registered trademark, but the wrench became so ubiquitous that ‘crescent’ became a common name much like ‘coke’ and ‘kleenex’.
If worried about being precise on how tight you get it, why would you use an adjustable wrench? You can get a run of the mill torque wrench for a lot less and use a socket that actually fits.
Now where did I put that credit card?
The ultimate in frustration! Use a wrench that slips off the bolt before you get it tight, while it tells you it’s not tight.
Hmm I think I’d rather save the $323 and use a regular wrench. I mean seriously, this is pushing it. If you’re not smart enough to know when a bold is tightening, you’ve got to be an idiot. Sorry, I used a lot of wrenches over the years and not once did I need a machine to tell me, the bolt is tight or not. http://ziggytek.com/
