My, my, what do we have here? Noise-canceling headphones for $8? That’s insanity in a box!

It’s true, though. Woot! is selling the Philips SHN2500 Active Noise Canceling Headphones for $7.99 plus $5 for shipping. They’re brand new, too — not refurbished.

Ewww, refurbished headphones! Actually, for eight bucks I’d probably look the other way. This deal is good today only, so get while the gettin’ is good.

  • I bought them in Belgium for 45€ and decided to return them the next day, as I didn’t notice any noise cancelling effects. The store wouldn’t accept them back, so I had to sit on my loss and have used them ever since, with the noise cancelling feature turned off.
The impression that I have is that the bulky elecronics hanging in the middle of the cable are a small amplifier, to boost the volume of the music and overpower outside noise. But I don’t want to hear to louder music, I want to cancel noise. And this, this product does not make.
For 8 bucks I recommend you buy something similar, but without the anoying electronics casing.
