Good job, everyone! The DTV switch seemed to went well. The June 12 transition came and past on our end with little fanfare. Hopefully it was the same with you. Nielsen is reporting that the vast majority of US homes – 98.9% that is – can receive DTV signals. Kind of surprisingly though is that the under 35 demo is the least prepared with 2.7% unable to receive the digital broadcasts.
We’re just hoping that they are actually ahead of the curve and could care less about broadcast or subscription TV. Hopefully most of those hipsters are using digital downloads or Internet video in lue of traditional TV sources. But if folks haven’t figured out why the hell their TVs stopped working, it’s probably better that they go read a book anyway.

I AM surprised actually, I was not expecting the number to be this high, and it was the people who are over 35, not under, that I was expecting to be hit the most by this.
This actually gives me a tiny glimmer of hope for the public in relation to the current world of tech.
I think those numbers tell only a small part of this story. The real problem I have noticed with the DTV switch is that without the proper antenna you only get a fraction of the stations received under analog. So maybe 98.9% of US homes are ready to receive DTV, most are dissatisfied with the stations received.
In a world where it’s to be avoided to classify by race, interesting that these demographics are basically reported by color.
That is a very high number. It was probably a hood idea to delay the DTV transition. Seem like it has worked. but 98.9% is pretty high. With all the problems many were facing, i was expecting the numbers to be around 70-80% http://ziggytek.com/
It seemed to done have well. At far this least.
We’re in the “unable” demo. We pulled the plug on TV 3 years ago. iTunes, Hulu, NetFlix streaming, etc… for 100% of our viewing needs. Unfortunately as Hulu and other sites improve, my goal of having more “family time” has suffered. I’m sure my kids wish the networks would back off on all the improvements. They want their dad back.
I still like the old TV model on top of on-demand content, I discover many new shows that way by just channel surfing, there are times when I am bored and don’t feel like playing a game or reading, so I just turn on the TV and see whats on.
i have a digital TV and a pretty good antenna but i can’t watch TV.why?..simple..there is nothing ever on TV worth watching.
