There isn’t anything that impresses more than a touchscreen remote. Sure, the form factor is a little awkward at first, but damn are they sexy. When the Harmony 1000 remote debuted a few years ago, it carried an MSRP of $500. Now you can get the newer 1100 model for close to that or this one for only $147. I’d take this one.
You still get the IR and RF capability, along with a clever onscreen GUI. It can be somewhat slow at times compaired to the newer model, and some folks don’t like the form factor, but this is a deal at $147 even if it’s a refurbished model.

Amazing!!! I need one! My only concern is how hard it’ll be to sync it with everything. And would it control my computer? Cuz I watch movies off my macbook which I connect to a 32′ 1080p HDTV.
Touch screen anything is sweet.
I love the idea of one of these things. However, there’s no way I could jump around without looking at a remote like this, the way I do with my junking cable remote.
i looked at one of these initially but ended up with a Harmony One.

as for macbook, yes, it should work fine. i use my harmony one w/my macbook air. you may need to disable IR security so it allows more than one remote to be assigned to your macbook (if you already have the apple remote).
best deal i’ve seen yet on this model though.
I’ve had all types of universal remotes from expensive dealer-installed types to the harmony stick remotes I’ve programmed myself, and had remotes with both touchscreen and hard buttons. I can say that I much prefer the stick type which can be worked with one hand and while touchscreen seems like a great idea, you ALWAYS have to look to see what you are pressing, versus the hard buttons where your fingers can do the walking and your eyes can stay glued to the tube.
$500 Smackaroos for a remote!? That’s almost as bad as an iPhone.
I bought this remote but it didn’t work properly.
