[This got put up last night due to a broken embargo somewhere (I won't say where, but it ends in "NET"), so I pushed it out to when the information "officially" drops. We should also have a hands on shortly.]
I don’t know how else to say it. They put a second screen on the camera… right there on the front. It displays… you, and you tap the screen to take the picture. I hope it gives you some time to compose yourself, or else there are going to be a lot of pictures of people with arm and finger outstretched. They teased us with it a week or so ago, and although the thought occurred to me, I dismissed it as… well, frivolous. Maybe I’m the only one, but I generally take pictures of things other than myself. Pictures of me I get from other people’s cameras. Am I weird or something?
This will be nice for those self-portraits in the bar, or when you don’t want to ask someone to take a picture, I guess. And the screen can display something entertaining for your kid while you’re trying to take a picture. As if their mother or father, hanging over them with a strange object and smiling madly isn’t entertaining enough!
There are two models, the ST500 and ST550. Why they didn’t give them names like “Tapmaster” or “Screen On Front Camera” I don’t know, but let’s take a look anyway.

Well, looks like they’re identical except that the ST550 has a 3.5″ rear touchscreen instead of a 3″ one. They both have a 12-megapixel sensor, a 4.6x optical zoom (27-124mm equivalent), and the same 1.5″ front touchscreen.
There’s a T1000 as well, but it looks pretty normal aside from doing geotagging and wireless stuff.

This will be useful for all those “I’m stretching my arm out to take a pic of us together” photos that usually end up cropping off someone’s head.
yeah thats so koool
This will be fantastic for myspace whores to take whore pictures of their whore selves!
The only benefit I see from this device is for people who are going to be taking group pics with their arms stretched out but this’ll just lead to more pictures of girls posing, and acting like idiots in front of the camera. At least now there won’t be any mirror glares in the pictures. http://ziggytek.com/
hahahahahahahahahaha does ne one have one like ME
Often when I’m travelling with one friend, instead of asking someone to take a picture (or if nobody else is there), I’ll stand the camera up on a ledge, post, or car, and put it on 10 second timer mode. That way I can get a great pic of everyone I’m with. An LCD on the front will help lining up the picture since sometimes it’s hard to get behind the camera.
With that being said… I’d still only buy a canon point and shoot.
we stretch our arm out to take a pic together but with this their is no need to do that………..
