Now that Sony finally dropped the price of the PS3 down to $300 will you buy one? A better question might be: are you going to pick up a 80GB or 160GB PS3 because the Slim doesn’t support Linux? Sound off in comments on that last one.

Yes I did pay $600 for my launch model but I am well aware that I picked the best damn unit out of all the different models out there. I have 4 USB ports wifi a big ol hdd since I upgraded my 60GB and its backwards compatible. Amazing I got so much for a lot of money.

I have two. I’ll wait until the current ones are no longer available & then sell the one I use for my HT system at a premium to someone who wants Linux compatibility. I’l replace it with a slim, which will fit better into my HT system shelving.
Nope. It’s still Sony, the biggest company with a terrible attitude towards its customers and utter disrespect for standards. I see that’s changing now, but until they stop trying to lock their customers into their proprietary shit, I am not buying anything Sony.

I plan on getting another PS3 just for the purpose of having another BluRay player and I’m thinking I can enable Hulu since I already have PlayOn on multiple TVs and get rid of my tv package
I’m a purebred pc gamer. But I’m in the market for a new TV, I think a ps3 slim would be the perfect accessory for it.
All this means to me is that a FAT PS3 is now a cheaper companion to my 360.
What, does the slim not run linux like the original PS3 does?
No the Slim does not support Linux.
why do you need linux and what does it change? the only thing im scared is that i dont want to buy one quickly if there will be a recall and then i might not find one later. would you recomend doing that?
