Have you ever wanted to rearrange your applications on your iPhone, but ended up messing up pages of apps? Well, now there is a solution for that, and it’s called Movement. Movement essentially lets your rearrange all of your applications on your iPhone or iPod Touch, straight from your Mac. Seems too good to be true, right? Of course, there’s a catch. It requires a jailbroken iPhone.
MG Siegler wrote about iTunes 9 a few weeks ago on TechCrunch, with the possibility of app organization, but it’s all up in the air right now.
Overall, Movement is very cool. It provides a tool that many iPhone and iPod Touch users want, but under a cost of jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod Touch. Movement is developed by indie Mac developer Jeff Stieler.

Okay, just one question then… what is the best way to jailbreak an iPod touch 2nd generation?
use redsn0w http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/06/23/iphone-30-unlock-is-go-dont-try-it-on-your-3g-s-though/
Where do I get the “corresponding IPSW for your current firmware”?

I hope iTunes 9 implements this feature! Pleeeeaase, Apple.
I agree. I’ve been hoping for an application like this but I don’t want to jailbreak my phone. Make it happen Apple!
We all are hoping!
that would help make things a whole lot easier!
Sure .. it gonna make it alot easier .. (I hope so as I need something like this app .. as I have already messed up the things .. and gave to my frnd to make it work)
iPhone’s Movement was expected as an essential app by people is in the market right now. Awesome, rearrangement of the applications on iPhone or iPod Touch is no longer going to be complicated.
I hazard to guess that most iPhone/touch users are NOT MAC users…. I would be impressed if this makes it to WINDOWS
Considering Mac only has about 7% market share, that’s a safe bet!
Organizing apps would be nice but I’d much rather see Apple allow you to create folders so you can organize by categories. Know there’s a way to do this with a jailbroken phone but would really hope Apple builds this functionality into the new iTunes.
I use categories w/ a jailbroken iPhone and it works well. This looks the same.
Are you blind… it is not even close to CATEGORIES…. Do you see any folders???
Interesting to see TechCrunch promoting JAILBREAK more and more… ARRINGTON must be realing…. lol
I hate my iPhone. I’m selling it and buying a Palm Pre.
Our iPhone is just great :-)
And this apps is cool. If they where just able to fix the battery…
Defining jailbreaking would have helped dummies like me understand your article.
There are tons of posts all over the internet, and TechCrunch about this topic. http://search.techcrunch.com

Or you could do that :)
Well categories is cute, but this is a little more functional. The ability to stuff something in a folder is nice, but with the crashing and phone trashing that I experienced with categories I’d be more willing to give this a try. However, I think I’ll wait to see what Apple is coming out with for iTunes 9 as I think there will be a functionality that allows for this which is even cleaner.

Worked really well, I’ve been waiting for something like this for a while. Thx for the heads up.
I have categories and given the number of apps I have, I find it very useful. Agreed it crashed off and on, but not enough too keep me from using it.
I also just tried Movement and this works VERY well, but do note that you need to respring your iphone after the update. I like this so much, I may put it on my 10 ten jailbreak apps after more testing. :)

Question is; is it useful enough to be 10 ten, or is it, ‘great to do a reorg, then that’s about it.’. We’ll see. If I do not use this again in a week, then perhaps its not top 10 useful.
(would LOVE to see a windows version too)
Thanks for the tip on re-spring…couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work!
ON SNAP this works sooo great AWESOME APP!!
RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE! (who are jailbroken)
it’s a dream come true for all those who dreamt of it!
So it’s an app for apps. This app craze is getting ridiculous.
This is a cool concept but not worth jail-breaking your iPhone for. I’m almost positive it will be a feature in iTunes 9 though.
Plus, why is this a front page TechCrunch article? I think this article belongs in CrunchGear only.
Hmm. I’ve jailbroken my iPod Touch. But I use Cydia, and this isn’t on Cydia. So I’m not sure what to do with the zip file I downloaded. :/
It’s really nice, but with support for five icon dock, i am curious as to the lack of support for five icon springboard…. 8/10
I’m more interested in how this demo was done. I would be really useful to me to be able to record the phone and computer screens together. Did you use any specific software for that?
Hey wheres that idea coming from? AndroidOS? This is a great feature from the HTC Hero … competition is encouraging ;)
No Windows support :(
I was looking for this kind of iPhone App
Ok maybe I’m just going crazy, but I can arrange the apps just fine on my iPhone 3GS without anything extra. Hold down till they start shaking then drag it wherever you want. What does this do (other than require a jailbreak) that mine doesn’t already do out of the box?
Nice but JB iphones have done this for over a year!
This feature is part of iTunes 9 isn’t it ? Anyway, great job ;)
