I’m not able to confirm or deny these shots are of anything out of Apple but our source tells us these are very early screens of something that “Steve wants,” suggesting that the iPad is more movie watching device than anything else.
I looked up some of the trailers and found that the language on the All About Steve one is true to the language used by the studios. As we see there is an AppleTV-esque drilldown interface along with a full on-screen keyboard – helpfully marked “keyboard” – and a Cover Flow interface for browsing video.
Again, unless we get an Apple cease and desist I’m going to ask you to take this with a bucket of salt and a fresh batch of rumor cookies server up with some GTFO juice.

You and Siegler should go on a LONG vacation together, somewhere without WiFi or 3G or anything connected!
i’m about to.
I guess I don’t understand why that is relevant.
what is relevant?
For sure, Steve Jobs released one of the best Tablet as for this moment, but seeing its flaws — surely, made the impression that it really didn’t ‘beat’ its contenders (Kindle/Netbook devices) At least on this model. Maybe, if they will release a 2G model, these disadvantages will be eliminated, but then again that begs the question.. Why should we buy this half-baked tablet, if 2G will be better?
..In the end, it’ll be up to your preferences and budget if you’re going to have the iPad. More Details: http://bit.ly/apple-ipad-under-fire
The demo has gone live:

I dont buy it. Inglorious Basterds is an available title, even though it isn’t in the iTunes store yet, and somehow the software is at such an early state that the keyboard is still labeled “keyboard”? I hate fakes. I don’t really understand why people make them. If Dante were alive today he would put them on the 8th level of hell to be sure.
Previews. Though believe me I agree on the keyboard.
That might explain it, though I didn’t even see it in the itunes store as a preview. Maybe I just missed it.
very early screens of something that “Steve wants,”
What does that mean. Does it mean that Steve wants to leak these pics or he wants these designs for the produict?
Where is the hardware?
without it, anybody can fake the screenshots .
(Playing devil’s advocate) Software designers at Apple who are working on unreleased products probably don’t have anything that resembles the final hardware, when they were working on the iPhone they were using boring boxes with a touchscreen attached. This way very few people knew what both the hardware and software were going to be.
That said, it is obviously fake.
I don’t think this has anything to do with an Apple iPad, at least I hope not.
Many of the other mockups have a much better look, including the virtual keyboard. If Steve Job’s recent comments about people being way off on their ideas about an iPad mean the one posted here is what is coming out he is in trouble.
Not impressed at all with the look of this device.
Mr. Blurrycam strikes yet again. Here’s my prediction based on what I’ve seen so far:
This is just a screenshot from a new large-screen iPod touch (iPod Touch HD) The device allows you to download and watch HD content but other than that there will be few if any additional features. Its main selling points: Longer battery life, faster processor than existing touch, works with the App store, Touch OS 3.X, and more precise accelerometer for better control of tilt-based games. This will be marketed alongside traditional size ipod touches and developers will begin to design apps that can scale up or down to fit the screen size of either device. This paradigm shift in designing content for dynamic screen size will help ease the transition into more large touch-screen devices. This device would represent stage 2 of an Apple roadmap to transition to a completely touch-based OS for all devices.
Traditional pron (the kind with women) would be just as satisfying for you and just as unlikely.
I think this is Apple TV Take 3 ? more than an iPad. It needs a rethink, and they need to allow an SDK for it also for connecting peoples personal content to samba/nfs shares.
and all those films are apple trailers.
How do we know this is a Apple Tablet? You could be standing in front of your Big Screen TV, with a Mac Mini, and a beta copy of Snow Leopard for all we know.
Really, stop wasting time.
Man I hope it’s not called the iPad… then we’d all sound like some Yankees who can’t say “iPod”…
Sorry, but how can anyone look at these lousy completely unverified photos and proclaim, with a tinge of sadness, no less, that the “iPad is more movie watching device than anything else.” I’m all for “breaking news” and all that but shouldn’t it be offered more as a curiosity rather than fact?
Look at the ‘G’ on the keyboard: it’s clearly Arial (Steve’s most reviled font) and not Helvetica. Fail.
The keyboard looks real.
The movies look like they could be shots from the the “movie trailers” area in front row. That’s why they are all unreleased movies.
It is not an Apple Interface, now way, looks all wrong.
I agree, there is nothing ‘Apple’ about the interface and I don’t see them taking a totally new interface design that doesn’t align with their other products
This seems pretty fake:
The font? Doesn’t look “Apple”-ish…
The movies:
Jennifer’s Body doesn’t have a page on iTunes, how come its here? There’s only the soundtrack if I’m not mistaken…
Another thing about this is the “Filter Criteria,” simply just make it search (not an Apple thing).
Take a look @ the iPhone’s Keyboard:

If they call this thing the “iPad” it is going to be a complete disaster. What will be their next product? Let me guess. The iPid? How about the iPed? Then next can be the iPyd and even the iPud and the product line will be complete.
The only name that makes sense for this product is iTablet. Did you get that apple?
Horrible UI.
If the iPad doesn’t come with full OS X all the way down to the 10” version I’ll never buy it.
Leaked!!:

Summary of the iPad:
-It doesn’t have an SD card slot or USB slot. You want to load all your photos on it? You need to buy a special dongle and attach it to the iPad. Ah yes, that’s convenient and cost-effective.
-You need to lay it flat and look straight down at it to type on it. It’s not like a netbook or laptop where the keyboard is flat and the screen is in front of your face.
-You can buy a keyboard accessory — you can spend extra money to turn a low-power netbook-type tablet into a non-portable desktop computer. Meanwhile there are products like Lenovo U1 Hybrid where you can slip the tablet into a netbook shell and turn it into a portable, foldable laptop.
-Apple wants to say it will be great for reading books and magazines, but it has a bright, glossy LCD screen. Meanwhile, electronic book reader devices use an electronic ink technology that doesn’t strain the eyes and can be used in the sun. Electronic book readers can run on battery for days, whereas the iPad claims up to 10 hours, but probably has much less.
-You cannot multitask. You can only do one task at a time. If you want to surf the web and type into a document, you can’t. You need to exit one and then open the other.
-No flash support. Enjoy the web without much of its content!
-Doesn’t use a real operating system, like Windows or Mac OSX. It runs like an iPhone, not a laptop.
-It costs $500, minimum, and has a 1 ghz processor. You’re paying $500 for something that has about the same capabilities as an iPod Touch, but is huge. Products with similar specs and abilities as the iPad cost less than that. If you want the model with enough disk space and 3G to make it worth your while, it’s $800.
My netbook has a 1.6 ghz Atom processor and cost me $200. And my netbook has an SD slot so I can make the hard drive space as large as I want. And my netbook has USB ports. And I can do multiple tasks on my netbook. Fact is, tablets have been around forever and the mainstream market didn’t want them. Just because they’ve slapped an Apple logo on it, should people suddenly want it?
The real iPad software keyboard is so much better.
And besides this keyboard is in a freaking window…
Buy a Modbook Pro…
Even in Star Trek they did not have one of these.
At 9.56 inches of height, 7.47 inches of width, 0.5 inch of depth and merely 1.5 pounds,
The new iPad is the latest and baddest Ass Gadget on the block. I WANT ONE NOW !

I wish the iPad OS was more along the lines of osX rather than the iPod/iPhone OS.
It would have allowed much more functionality on the device but would probably have compromised the Battery Life.
The possibilities with the iPad seem to grow with every passing moment. I think the biggest challenge will be to get the general public to view this as the device it is – an appliance. When compared against the iPhone or the MacBook, it doesn’t seem to offer the features people “need” – and yet, when viewed from a new perspective it actually may have more capability than it initially appears to have.
If you’re interested, I explored a few thoughts in my blog post on this – http://www.therobbrennan.com/journal/2010/2/2/the-ipad-a-few-steps-forward-or-a-few-steps-back.html – but one thing I think we all can agree on is this is definitely something to keep an eye on. First gen may be nice to have, but I bet we’ll see huge strides in the 2nd and 3rd iterations.
