Just like last.fm, Xbox 360 owners looking to socialize with friends on Twitter and Facebook via Xbox Live must have a Gold Membership. Just a little nugget that popped up in the price cut announcement from earlier that we thought you might want to know about.
Xbox LIVE Gold Membership will be required for Twitter and Facebook when they are available, and is required for Netflix. Games, media content and Netflix membership are sold separately; a hard drive is required for storage.

You pay for what you get.
I wouldn’t even watch films on my x360 if I could have a torrent client on there and dl them all for free. This is one area where the ps3 completely annihilates the x360.
As for Twitter and whatnot…who cares?
@Jonathan
Have you forgotten most downloadable content is cheaper on the 360 and that more than makes up for the price of gold membership over the year and then of course the 360 has community games like 1 v 100 where you win “REAL” prizes such as MS points(up to 10,000) ,games and this weeks top prize a car..
PS3 Film downloads are also coming to PS3 in November even Sony don’t seem to have not full confidence in blu-Ray media.
Oh and those film downloads on the PS3 are NOT free either.
