Microsoft is dissembling on the topic of the leaked 250GB “Super Elite” Xbox 360. Why, I couldn’t tell you. Why do companies refuse to send me pictures of products that have been out for months elsewhere in the world? Why did Sony wait so long to drop the price of the PS3? Why do birds sing?
Microsoft’s official response to a CNET writer looking for a comment on the Super Elite:
We have made no such announcement.
Honestly. They may as well have said, “Woohoo, 250GB Xbox before Christmas!”
If there really isn’t a 250GB version, they would have said “We feel the storage options available to consumers are sufficient” or some other diplomatic response, probably with some little dig at Sony for good measure. But no, it’s the non-response.
Seriously, I know you big companies have your own schedules to release stuff on, but it’s really time you started to realize that the real world doesn’t work on that schedule. I understand that sales go down as soon as a newer model is announced, but that just means that sales of the new model will be higher when it’s released. Be reasonable!

and here I am still stuck with my 20GB Xbox from way back when.
Well 250gb is better but it’s still nothing like big enough if the world of direct full game downloads, large numbers of arcade game downloads and HD movie downloads is happening.
I found 120gb filled up really fast, my bet is 250gb won’t seem so big in a short while either.
I’d hope we see 500gb or even 1tb soon.
I want to be able to load all my Xbox games onto the hard drive and play them all from there.
I’d like to load them up 1 time and then forget about it.
250gb isn’t enough.
Must try harder Microsoft.
Having said that the Amazon Germany deal for Oct looks very sweet.
The new Forza, 2 controllers & a Jasper Elite with 250gb HDD.
Nice.
I’m in.
Note too that the ‘Super Elite bundle’ as shown by Amazon Germany costs a couple of € less than the current 120gb PS3 slim.
If they carry this pricing & deal across all the other markets this will be the X-mas hit this year.
Nice to see Xbox catching up. I’ve had a 320g PS3 for a couple of years now.
Hi, my name is Microsoft Executive No. 346.
I’ve an idea. Get a PS3. And put your own goddamn 2.5″ hard drive in (or even an SSD) at your own leisure, whatever size you please, for quite less dosh.
No? OK, wait for Microsoft to release a 250gb one at their own leisure, for outrageous $.
No, wait! Mod your Xbox to take a different 2.5″ hard drive and get banned from Xbox Live. Score!
I hope you’re happy with your purchase of an Xbox 360, and continue to allow us here at Microsoft to rape you and make you feel great.
I’m with DaveBG here. 250GB is way too low, especially when you consider many of these consoles are part marketed as media players – with 250GB at the most! Not only this but they stick in a larger hard drive which costs say $15 more to buy than the smaller one and then charge something like $50 for the privilege.
MS Exec #346 tasted like crap, he/she must have been swimming in it all day. Oh well, now he/she’s my crap (I’m done digesting).
Buy whatever you like (I just bought a 120GB 360 for $299 w/ 2 games & HDMI cable w/ $50 rebate). I’ll buy the PS3 when I can get that with games or movies too for $250.
Thank GOD for the Great Recession.
