Fox to muck up Glee tonight with Twitter like it did last night with Fringe

Did you happen to catch Fringe last night? Apparently – I missed it – Fox decided that it would be hip to superimpose a Twitter feed on top of the picture. Well, the Internet has spoken and no one likes it. Oh, and it’s going to happen again tonight during Glee.

Check out this pic from Dave Zatz. The damn twitter takes up nearly the bottom third of the screen. It had to be distracting. Marketing Pilgrim has some great comments from its readers stating the solution: change the channel. But in case you missed the FAILfest last night, be sure to tune in tonight to watch the Glee cast members twit about their innermost thoughts.

  • Yeah, saw that last night.. total misfire… maybe if it was smaller, and the content was actually interesting… the way HBO handles a similar thing on the Rome DVDs

  • Definite fail. Very obtrusive and the text wasn’t exactly crystal clear.

  • hahha!!

thats not just a fail, thats EPIC FAIL!

and they thought users would like this because…???

  • I saw it last night and I completely turned it off. It was really annoying.

  • Why are they broadcasting twitter messages over the top of the Fringe program picture. That is very distracting and it is stupid. What do I care what these people are saying. What twit came up with this idea.

  • What is wrong with these stations. First they stuff rather large upcoming movie or series ads in bottom corners. At least some where transparent. But then they made them pop up and move which was completely distracting.

Now, this tweet crap which takes a good portion of the screen and is highly distracting. I was upset with Fringe yesterday and had to turn it off.

Now on my attempt to get to see the first episode of Glee. I have to turn to something else because tweet is to distracting and blocks to much of the images. I am very disappointed.

  • Twitter on TV is very annoying. I won’t watch it and will rent shows I want to watch. PLEASE STOP IT

  • yeah you couldn’t have watched it the other night it was on or on Hulu or Fox.com all summer.

It is a repeat of a show that has been availbe to watch for months. Give it a break.

  • The new season is scheduled for the 17th.

  • I almost threw the tv through a window. We sat down to give this show Glee a shot and 10 minutes into it they start with the stupid twitter. Now Im 26 years old, have used twitter and am up on the latest gadgets. WTF was fox thinking. I couldnt follow the story because of the innane chatter filling up 1/3 of the screen. I hope they fire whatever exec came up with that brillant idea. Fox always seems to sabotage their own shows.

    • That is so true!
Fox does sabatoge their own shows,
and people are not going to watch these if the crap is taking over the screen.
And, sorry to say, but I think the majority of the main demographics of people who like Fringe are probly not huge tweeters.
Because twitter is juvinille and lame.
But I think that’s a really good point.
They always stop things really early in the season, and throw out good entertainment without warning. Like the show Drive for example. I was getting into that, and I know a lot of people who were.
I’m really starting to frown upon Fox.

  • Annoying!!! WITH A CAPITAL “A”
