If I only had enough space for a pool table, and $200,000 to pay for it. This is totally the table I’d buy for my basement man-cave. If I had a basement. This is quite possibly the coolest animated pool table I’ve ever seen.
Currently set up at the Esquire Ultimate Bachelor pad, the Obscura CueLight is quite an amazing demonstration of technology. It uses sensors and motion detectors to manipulate images as you move the balls around the table. While the table is currently set up to reveal a hidden image, that’s just one potential use of the technology. It can also be configured to trail flames behind the balls, or even project a pool of water on the table that ripples as the balls move over it.
The good news is that the system itself only costs $80,000. It just happens to be mounted on a table that costs $125,000. So the question is, would it work on the $75 table you picked up at a garage sale?

Dave, wouldn’t($125,000 + $85,000) mean you need $210,000 and not just $200,000 :D
Awesome table..
Yeah, it’s actually 80,000, plus 125,000 makes 205,000… we like to round down though.
Don’t forget about tax, I don’t see a way to buy this online. CA is 8.25% + the city tax.. San Fran is an additional 1.25%. So 9.5% from their registered address.
Thats an additional 7600 on the 80K for just the system. So your talking $87,600 for the system.
If the pool table is from the same area (I’ve never seen a $125K pool table), that would be an additional $11,875 for the table.
So if you get them both in San Fran, the total is more like $225K total.
The point: you’re missing it.
oh man what would be awesome is if it could detect where your cue was pointed and draw a line through the balls you’d hit so you could set up your shot. See: the episode of Quantum Leap where Sam leaps into a pool player.
It sounds like that’s what they’re working on. The demo in the video is the first step in creating something like that.
Now maybe humans will be able to keep up with that newfangled “Deep Green” pool-playing robot.
if they make even a dozen sales it will probably carry them for a while.
i like it!
Gentlemen,
Arguing about costs? You really can’t get the full effect of the pool table in that video.
This is perfect for pool in complete darkness. With it being at the bachelor’s pad, Well there you go, it add all kinds of meaning to different Poll terms, but being a gentlemen, I can’t say.
That is one sweet pool table! A ball with a flaming tail would be great on that table. This is one of those things you need to have in your home if you’re a dude who has money to throw around. http://ZiggyTek.com/
Is this just a new a shiny toy or I did I miss anything ?
Call my crazy but I thought that the sensor did a piss poor job of picking up the balls.
Did no one else see the ball that rolled down the table at the end of the video that did not trigger the sensor for a few feet?
For anything over 50 grand I would be demanding perfection.
oh man what would be awesome is if it could detect where your cue was pointed and draw a line through the balls you’d hit so you could set up your shot.
Hi, I think you can get a folding version of this table as well. Might be wrong but I’m sure I’ve heard about it.
Thanks
Paul
