U110 - 2

Okay, here’s the MSI Wind U110 ECO. It’s a netbook, through and through, with the added twist of a nine-cell battery good for what MSI claims to be over 15 hours of battery life. Not bad considering the weight of the computer is kept at a very-portable 3.2 pounds.

It’s not going to set any performance records, with an Atom Z530 CPU at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, Intel GMA500 graphics, and a 10-inch screen with a resolution of just 1024×600. It’ll probably appeal to those of us who hate carrying AC adapters around everywhere, though.

Comes with Windows XP and a 160GB hard drive and is priced at $430 (MSRP) from MSI or, better yet, $399 at Newegg.

  • That is one ugly netbook. I’ll stick to the 1005HA with 10.5hrs of battery life. It’s much cheaper too, at $350 on Amazon right now.

  • Meh, 15 hours of doing things 15 times slower.

  • Something’s gotta give for the 15 +hours of battery life. And yes, this does appeal to people like me who would trade unrecognizable performance for never having to carry the adapter. I just hate lugging my toshiba around, especially when my battery (or ac adapter) is busted so the laptop ALWAYS needs to be on the adapter.

Good job MSI. Way to be efficient.

  • I think its a step in the right direction. Although the ATI was a misprint i think the 15 hours of battery life is pretty appealing. maybe they will make a Wind u200 eco with 9cell battery of 12 hour battery life and ATI graphics. I think this is more geared for the non-gamers. Why game on a netbook? that just bound for muscle problems.
