What a shame. The LEGO house has been demolished just weeks after completion for James May’s other show, Toy Stories. (He’s known as Captain Slow on Top Gear, too)

Legoland didn’t want it due to the high cost of transporting it and it was never intended to be permanent, so down she came. At least some good will come of it as the used LEGO blocks will be donated to charity. Hit up Telegraph for a photoset showing the completed inside and the demolition.

  • I love James May. This is a sad day. This house is another example of the great television happening everywhere except America.

I’m a little surprised they didn’t come up with a more extravagant way to bring the house down. It doesn’t take much imagination to picture Jeremy Clarkson hitting the thing at 160mph in an H2 riding on skis with a rocket strapped to the back. Oh well.

  • Love Lego, Love James May, Love the BBC.

  • The volunteers and James worked hard on this project and it’s such a pity that Lego were not able to find the £50k needed, though heavens knows why when they charge such extortionate fees. James is a lovely gentleman.

Plus someone has taken the Lego cat that was so lovingly made, it can be returned with no questions asked to the BBC in London on Wood Lane.

I’ll be watching Toy Stories when it airs and personally I can’t wait.

  • New Material for Homes Under the Hammer…

  • It just breaks my heart to see them literally breaking it apart so violently. However, I do remember that it was harder on the fingers to take Legos apart than it was to put them together.
