Where did this rumor that Microsoft wanted to buy EA start? You know what, it doesn’t matter where it started, because it’s not true. No, Microsoft has no plans to buy EA, so don’t sweat the technique ($1 if you get that reference).
One of Microsoft’s corporate vice-presidents told this to Reuters:
We have no plans to acquire EA. They remain a very important partner to us. No acquisitions
Besides, you know if Microsoft bought EA it’d screw it up, just like when it bought Rare back in the day. How well did that turn out? Not as well as people had hoped, that’s for sure. Plus, I’m sure Sony wouldn’t want to lose Madden and FIFA to Microsoft overnight. Those titles are too big to just let go.

comparing a developer like rare who were reliant on their relationship with nintendo to the 2nd largest publisher in the world makes no sense at all.
Or in simpler terms,
rare = smallish developer
EA = Huge publisher first and a bunch of development studios second.

Um, how exactly did MS screw up Rare? They were already pretty screwed up by the time of that acquisition, which is precisely why Nintendo sold them.

Something must be boiling in there, the rumor seems to be a wake up call for a lot of people, think Nintendo and now Apple losing those EA titles, so they must invest some $$$ to guarantee a piece of the pie, if Microsoft’s intentions turn to be true, a bunch of people will be jumping to the Xbox just for those games….
