This is a bit of a conundrum. On the one hand, you’ve basically got the coolest external drive ever created. A 160GB hard drive is stuck inside this cartridge with no other modifications but the port; it fits right in its original sleeve. It’s even bus-powered!

But! On the other hand, this is a Super Mario Bros 3 cartridge. It’d be like desecrating the temple of my youth. I could have dragged out my old NES and played SMB3 all day. Of course, I’ve already got two copies of the game, but still — what if they break? Or are stolen and turned into hard drives?
It’s available from French Etsy seller LilyPixelArtshop for $120, and… wait, is that a gold Zelda cartridge? Sacrilege!

the fact that you CAN do that is amazing. ha Thats so cool.
Very cool! :)
They could have just as easily NOT used SMB3…
Neat idea but in creating it, they removed a copy of one of the best games ever from the earth. To shame.
Well I agree they did, its not like they are creating any more of them, though, as far as novelty goes, its a neat idea.
Oh my goodness what a blast from the past. I loved Mario! I must get my retro games back out :-)
I love Mario too! It let me remember my young age which is the age I played Mario on BW machine all days.

SMB3?? What?! Are they on crack? It’s a freaking cool idea but they could have used Top Gun or some other pain in the butt game that wouldn’t be missed…

Yeah but then the external HDD wouldn’t be worth it.
SMB3 is a classic.
darn ! you just made me look for my old nes, i gotta play some mario !! :)
They should of made this on a bad game for the NES…which is almost all of them.
This appears tailor made for data smuggling. If I had something bad I wanted to hide in a hard drive I could think of nothing better than hiding it in a box of unassuming NES games. Though it would probably be better if it were Clu-Clu-Land or anything other than the most popular and desirable NES game of all.
Of course, nothing beats my strategy of not having any illegal data to hide.
