For those of you about to rock, I encourage you to pick out a nice pair of headphones. I tested four models at around $100. They are:

Ultrasone Zino – $99
Philips Tapster – Price TBA
Shure SE102MPA – $119
Klipsh S4i – $99

Which one did I love the most? While they were all special in their own way, there were two that really stood out in the round-up… but I won’t ruin the surprise! Watch the video to find out.

  • what a clumsy video! You may have got free earbuds to test but don’t handle them like dirt! It simply doesn’t make a nice video …

  • I really digg Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 Wireless Stereo HeadPhones. Does your suggested pair have a mic to enable use with iPod Touch (Skype or voice memo use)?

  • What an absolutely useless video. There’s hardly any explanation at all as to how he arrives at his decision for the “best two,” and throughout it feels like making the video was some sort of chore for him that he couldn’t wait to be done with.

  • Why BOSE is not in this list.

    • Bose is a marketing company that happens to make audio gear. It could be cereal or soda. But if you rate quality to price, their product ratio is not good.

  • You should have tried Jaybirds. They’re bluetooth and specifically made for running, exercise, and sweat.

  • Hmmm .. something makes me think this was sponsored by Philips?

  • I’m wondering why the Etymotic Research ER-6i is not there…at $70 or so, it’s probably a HUGE bargain compared to these…unless your idea of music is pounding, overwhelming bass.

  • Tapsters look pretty good. Keep us updated about pricing. And if you have time, do a thorough review about the “winners” of this h2h – maybe that will shut some of these asshats up.

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of asshats, can we talk about this commenting system? It needs to be a little more advanced. First, it lets the asshats come in and say stupid stuff. Second, it doesn’t protect users identities; people can take any user name they want. No tracking of user names means no accountability means trolls and asshats.

  • For half the price I would encourage you to try the NuForce NE7M wired headset. I love them. I’m hearing parts of my music I didn’t even know were there. Washed them in my laundry once, on accident, they still work.

Nice balance of mids, highs and bass. Especially after you get a good seal in your ear. Probably the only tedious part about owning in ear buds is finding the right size ear bud and getting the proper seal.

    • +1 on the NE7M. Superior imaging for that price point (again, unless you need to be overwhelmed by bass). Very nice balance and focused mids. Some say the Comply tips work better for them than the stock tips. I tried the Comply but went back to the stock.

  • A week? Like, without turning them off? You need to define what you mean by a week. I never turn off my bluetooth headsets except when I shower, so when you say I week, I expect it to run for a week at 23.6 hours a day.

Also, what’s with the left-channel-only audio on your segments in the office?

  • Seriously do you guys actually know anything about technology? Any list that doesn’t include bose tri-port earbuds is simply ridiculous.

  • NuForce NE7M is the best.. really wicked bass and you can also make ur itouch into a iphone cause its got a really gud quality mic.. plus its within the $30.00 price range.. they are the best – true underdogs in headphone world…

  • What a poor review. A headphone review without touching on sound quality or sound signature.

  • looks like time has been wasted in making and watching this
